locked - IP rights violations

I started to debate this in public, but I've got better things to do. Just so we know, here's what I started to post and decided it wasn't worth doing.

I asked to see the document that gave the explicit rights, but promised not to share it. Frankly, that's none of my business, either.

These days when somebody flags something here as being a violation of their rights I don't waltz around it beyond being a court order before I react. It's a simple case that JR showed exactly what he claimed, he has exclusive rights worldwide to produce any playing card decks for a period of 5 years. I'm not trying to be the thought police, but I'm certainly not going to get into an IP rights controversy either. It doesn't really have anything to do with whether I like the art, either. A claim was made and the topic was flagged, I asked for and received a perfectly valid claim and supporting document, so I did what I thought was necessary to protect myself, UC and "Friends of UC" as well. IANAL, so I can't say that either side is right or wrong, only objectively look at what was presented. I do know that beyond question Jackson has the obligation to defend his rights or lose them, and so does CDE Ltd. Even I don't have the right to see his contract, but he provided it anyway. If KS wants to ignore the matter they may find themselves being served with a cease and desist order, simply because of that fact: CDE has to defend the brand or lose it.

Is there really anything more to say about that specific project? Even if it's still up, we know it will be taken down eventually, and in the case of a later relaunch there will no doubt be a new thread if that day comes.

You are of course free to start a new thread to discuss IP violations in general (and use specific examples if you so wish), or just use this one.
