KHALO playing cards

KAHLO playing cards are here to honor the life and death of the famous Mexican figure, Miss F. Kahlo. This is my 6th Mexican themed deck and I wanted to present something a little different, or try something new. After thinking for awhile I came to realize that having a deck that celebrates Kahlo's life and work would be a perfect fit for my decks.
ABOUT THE ART
I used some of the scenes from Kahlo's paintings as inspiration to create the cards, and in some occasions, Diego's. You will find many Easter eggs, references, and more in my art if you are a fan of Kahlo's work.
For the Kings, I have Kahlo crossdressing as a man. The Queens, my favorite, have Kahlo posing with flowers and things that make her look beautiful and feminine, anything that enhances her soul. For the Jacks, I have Kahlo with animals like panthers and parrots. I really wanted to show Diego somewhere, so I decided to use him for the Jokers.
One of my favorite things to do when I design a deck is work on the pips or figures and this time it wasn't the exception. Using different elements that everyone relates Kahlo with, I was able to decorate the four figures that make a playing card deck.
WHY BLUE
One of the most iconic places related to Kahlo is her famous "casa azul" or "blue house" where she lived with Diego. I had the honor to visit the place a few years back and wanted to show it on the cards indirectly. This is why I decided that the back of the card and the tuck box have this unconventional color but very well fit for the theme of the deck.
