Thank you! Yeah making fans and putting them down on a surface is hard! What I did was to put the deck down and then fan it. That is also hard, but a little less so.

Quick question, which of these look better? The point of the shot is to show the gilding, which is green.
A or B?
And if they both suck. I'd like to hear it. Well, I'd like to hear it if you can articulate why they suck, that'd be useful. ;)

I think the green is lost, looking gold in both - perhaps not having the green background on the right would help - top shot here seems to be same color for gild in isolation, just looks greener...

Dang, yeah this comparison is good. I chose this background color because it felt like it fit the deck. But maybe I should have chosen colors that aren't the same as some of the colors of the tuck?

Either I'll try to change. The color of the background in post, or I'll re-shoot.

Btw, please don't compare my photos too much to the photos above, they're way better than mine. :p
I'm not that good and I don't use props. My apartment is too small for me to collect props lol.

Maybe I can get away with only reshooting the photos that show the gilding.

A for me as it looks richer. They both look green to me.
I don't have the deck to compare to - I have been so very tempted but I really only love the backs and a few faces

Thanks for the input y'all. I'm gonna reshoot the deck with a more subtle and hopefully "elegant" background. Maybe I'll use only one color.

Lego has been clutch for me! It's so flexible for this kind of photography.

Not sure if y'all think this was an improvement or not, but I like this green/black background more. It's less distracting and lets the deck stand out.

Legal Tender - by Kings Wild Project

What do you guys think of this straight on view of the tuck? It makes it much easier to get the whole front in sharp focus, but does it look a bit more boring than my other tuck photos?

I prefer the straight on view! It was one of my gripes with the previously slightly angled photos, but I didn't think of it as a big enough deal to comment on at the time.

I greatly appreciate feedback, so unless it's said in a rude way or it's not constructive, I'll take it. :)

Maybe I'll try a straight on view next time.

Do you prefer the straight on angle to this where the angle is more severe and you can actually see the sides a little?

I'm not trying to sway your opinion one way or the other, I just know that I often don't angle them very far, so the sides aren't easy to see.

Yeah I do prefer this angle more as opposed to the tilt you had on Ravens of Odin and Madame Luveau as examples.

I MUCH prefer this angled Sembras - the straight on pics look like something I could have achieved with my scanner
The Sembras pic looks great
(Message to oneself: although the Sembras backs were a let down compared to tuck color - I still must get them)

Thanks you two! Love hearing feedback like this. I'll try to have the next tuck on an angle like this one. :)
Just be aware that the corners on the top and bottom of the tuck will probably be a little out of focus. It's hard to get everything into focus when it's at an angle. I could do focus stacking, but I've never had good results with it, and also it's a pain in the ass.

Both look like the green is being reflected onto the cards, not the actual color of the gilding. I think you need get them to come across Green as core color with gold being reflected onto them.
