First time I finally understood the prize structure...going to be near impossible for a dark horse deck to win anything here since to win the contest you are better off voting for a known deck than unknown, assumed winners are more likely to be actual. I don't think that will restrict me a lot, but it will be a factor in a tie breaker for myself when deciding on who to put down. Just a note for next year.

To the postitive - I see some mighty fine prizes in there, thanks to all the donors!

I started drafting my votes last week, but yeah it's tough.

Yeah, you kinda have to play it smart which I find kinda sucks to be honest. Do you vote for the underdogs you mostly like or do you cast your vote for known heavy hitters with a higher chance of success?

My votes are a mix of the two. I have a few that I'm sure will rank low on the polls but in good conscience I couldn't nominate others.

That's kinda why dazzleguts ranked so low last year. Her nominations were the most authentic.

Well while i agree that this would be 100% as compared to pure voting, there really isnt a good alternative to this? Would yall rather a system that just randomises all the prizes ? Because that has been done before and i feel that the involvement and excitement is definitely lacking if done that way.

Also here are the people who have voted!
In order of votes:

Lotsa great prizes to be won ! Dont miss out !

Great, Kai, good start! You should note that I cast a vote in all 17 categories, but disqualified myself.

Folks, even if you don't want to take from the prize pool, please vote so we have a better sample overall!

I forgot Dann Kristoffer (DKG) sent me a few pounds of decks, dice, magnets, etc all from his latest 3-deck Cthuhlu series, and that is Tier 16, as I recall. I will have to break it open and give more details.

I want to personally thank Kai for his yeoman's hard work and each prize(s) provider. Without your generosity, we wouldn't be able to provide such a luscious variety of prizes to the winners - truly drool-worthy, awesome prizes. Each of these is a "Gift" for Customs purposes when it comes to international members, values are subjective, minimizing the amounts for prizes destined overseas is also legit (and no money changes hands).

Yowza! That will take some filtering.

So just to check, do we vote for places 1, 2, and 3 (a total of 51 votes), or do we just vote for place 1 (17 votes), or do we even need to vote for all categories?

Maybe most informed? There is no right or wrong here, it's entirely subjective, which is what makes this hobby great. The most diverse group always provides the broadest selection of favorites, it can't work any other way.

We're like snowflakes: each of us has our own perspective. No two are ever the same.

Everyone votes for their pick (just one) in each category. If you try to "split" your vote it messes up the scoring algorithm. Even if you see it as a tie, you should pick one of the two in each case, or your vote won't count for any/every category you split. You're giving your opinion of who wins the "gold ribbon" in each category.

You don't HAVE to vote in every category, but points will be tough to win unless you vote on all 17 categories.

I like how all the prizes are listed and the winners get to choose which prizes they want in order instead of arbitrarily assigning prizes to each place.

For the brick that I am donating, I chose decks that represent the diversity we have in the hobby now. All the big companies are represented (Ellusionist, Theory11, D&D, David Blaine, Blue Crown, CARC and De'Vo) in addition to Kickstarter decks and independent decks. There are decks manufactured by USPCC as well as EPCC. And of course, the original annual United Cardist deck had to be included.

When I first let Kai know I wanted to donate a prize, I told him my brick would come with a condition in regards to shipping. I didn't see my condition mentiioned, so I feel I should mention it now because it may affect whether someone wants to select my brick as their prize or not. If the winner that picks my brick lives in the U.S., I will cover all the shipping cost of course. If the winner that picks my brick lives outside of the U.S., I will cover the cost of shipping the brick in a USPS International Priority Mail Flat Rate padded envelope. But given that even a conservative estimate of my brick is well over $120.00, that might not be the ideal or most secure way to ship the decks. So here is the condition: if the winner that picks my brick lives outside of the U.S. and wants the brick shipped the proper way, I am asking that they contribute $35 towards shipping their brick via the USPS International Priority Flat Rate Medium Box. I really hate to do this, but the only safe way to make sure the decks arrive in perfect condition is to ship this brick internationally in a sturdy box, and that is going to cost over $60.00 unfortunately.

I hope everyone finds my condition reasonable. If you're outside the U.S. and truly object to having to chip in for international shipping for a prize, then luckily for you there are many other very generous and awesome prizes available to choose from. Thank you for your understanding.

I would vote that set and series are not mutually exclusive. A set can be made up of a series of cards.

I guess I'd like them to be a series since they would be my favourite, even though I couldn't afford to get them at the time.

I agree. If it all comes out at once (like Prohibition) it's a set if it comes out at different times like the Unrest Series... it's a series. ;) But of course I might be a little biased.

Ive taken the prohibition decks as a set since they are a single release, when E releases the v2 of these decks then it will be counted as a series =)

If you are worried about the votes being polarised, and only the "popular" decks are getting voted, i can tell you that quite evidently isnt the case, we have had votes on 60 different decks with 14 different users (now more) so far =)

So, if we're not counting Prohibition as a series, that brings up another question...

Does the Uusi line of cards count as a "series?" They have described what they are doing as a "series of six decks," but clearly the predominant theme that unites these six decks (well, deck *sets* actually) is that they are designed by Uusi.

Sooo, can we get clarification from the judges on that before we go further? Thanks!

Uusi's set is considered a series, because uusi set out to create 6 sets of cards using 6 different mediums, that is what ties all 6 decks together.

Edit: The following decks have been nomiated for best deck series but of of one single release and hence will not qualify:
Hive
Zenith
Sherlock by KW
Seven Seas (probably eligible next year, but not yet)
Celtic Myth

If you are one of the voters that voted for any of the above, kindly pm me with your new choice together with all of your categories. And put a note that its a resubmission. Thanks.
