Not a brand new deck, but still just a two years old crazy good looking custom deck. Limited to 600, 300 english versions, 300 russian versions. Difference in the box and the Jokers. Both editions are gilded. Printed in... FINLAND!?! TORILLE!! NYT!!!

Anyways, I'll post pictures once my english version arrives! ;)

Ebay. The seller had both versions, now there is left just the Russian edition. Here. The english version was slightly cheaper, bot not much.

I managed to win an auction for the Transsiberian Express Russian Edition on ebay some days ago. I got it for 63 USD + 12 USD on shipping to Finland. I haven't received the deck yet but I will post pictures of the tuck box and the Joker once it arrives.

When it arrives, I will have both editions of this deck as I already own the English Edition.

Annoyingly, I was willing to go to $65 total on this deck. So I'm [banning offence] ... less complementary. But I can't begrudge Roop. Glad it's going to a good home.

Still also has 2 of both editions as singles for 65 USD per deck.

Arrived today, small difference that I didn't know about: The writing on the extra cards is on Russian in the Russian Edition

Mine sits in f&@king worthless pieces of s6¡t customs... again. Just had two decks from Japan sitting in transit there for two months. This one is in customs for 8 days now. Nothing on earth is more worthless than customs...

That's strange... Matt ordered about the same time that you did and he already received his decks in the States. I wonder what the issue is with your order...?

I will say that I have ordered from Dmitry a couple times before and it always seems to take a while (maybe 2 weeks?) to leave Russia. Don't know if that is due to the cargo travelling overland (by rail) prior to being laden aboard the plane/ship, or if Russian customs is just that slow.
Räpylätassu wrote:That's strange... Matt ordered about the same time that you did and he already received his decks in the States. I wonder what the issue is with your order...?
USPS overseas tracking doesn't seem to update reliably; in particular it's not good at recording when a package has departed a given location. More than once I've seen the last scan show arrival at Tokyo/Moscow/etc., then nothing for a week or two, then a scan for arrival at the US port, with no notification of departure in between.

Remember, too, that the US is very big and has multiple major ports. It may be that brownsl is further inland than Matt, or that one lives on the East Coast and another on the West Coast. (Some of this is less applicable for airmail, but I assume it was sent the cheap way, by surface mail.)

What a nice surprise yesterday. Tracking did still show it is in Frankfurt in customs. But It was in the mail yesterday. :D

Thank you very much again Roope. An Awesome deck and my first gilded one.
The quality of the cards is on the acceptable side, as in one tiny bit less and it would be paperwaste, but not really good as most in here would have guessed. I've learned to live with that, when it comes to solely design focused decks, but I always immediatly fantasize about having the artwork on USPC or Taiwan or Cartamundi Belgium produced cards.
The gilding is nice lookwise and out of the box wonderful, but after some light handling of the cards you'll immediatly recognise some light gold sparkling on your hands. Overall I would say for the price it isn't quite worth it because the card quality is for me acceptable, but definetly sub-par. I'm still very happy to call it a part of my collection, since the design is beautiful, whimsical and very detailed.

Yep, the quality of this deck is quite bad. I seriously wonder why on earth they printed these in Finland... Usually when you compare the quality of stuff between Made in Finland and Made in Russia, the Finnish stuff is way better made. Sadly playing cards are one of those few exceptions, there isn't a single good printer in entire Finland. You would think that a country that has a shit ton of trees and produces some of the best paper in the world would be better at producing playing cards...

I don't think that we are going to see an another version of this deck anytime soon as it was made in honor for the 100th anniversasy of the completion of the Moscow-Vladivostok railroad track. Maybe there is a chance for the 120th anniversary...? They did reprint the 1967 Black Palekh in -77 and -97 after all. But I sure as hell would like to see more decks from Veronika Nikolaeva in the future, she's a very talented designer.

I dream of a world where wars are fought only by having dance offs. I also dream that a Finnish playing card designer would exist. The former seems more likely to happend.

Dmitry has lowered the price on the pairs! While the single decks remain for 65 USD, the pair now costs only a 100 USD! And with free shipping as well!
