Re: High Flyers by Squiddle Ink
I think the Aces look better now that they have lost the PAR AVION which is pretty much all I was after for them (and the courts)

Re: High Flyers by Squiddle Ink
Kevork I think I agree but in the opposite way. I was considering removing the text from the Aces. I want it to be clear what breed the birds are on the courts as they are carefully selected champions of height or speed. Now I have reduced the size of the ace pips I think it makes sense to remove the text from them as it will be too small anyway. I will think on this though as I have built custom stamps for each bird that feature on some of the number cards so there are enough clues scattered throughout the deck for users to determine what breed the birds are.
Honeybee yes I also agree. Looks cleaner... I'm keeping it on the courts but the pips and aces are more balanced without

I will marinate on this one as I went back and looked at it with your suggestions in mind. Seems like a good call overall.Squiddle_Ink wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 8:42 pm Kevork I think I agree but in the opposite way. I was considering removing the text from the Aces. New aces work fine for me, too. The splash of colour is pretty darn nice.

Re: High Flyers by Squiddle Ink
What about dropping the bird names then? You rarely see other decks with so much going on with the courts?
I fully appreciate it is your project and think you are extremely talented and a great addition to the card industry, just wanting to give one consumers opinion
ps What I am most serious about is a second version of the deck without the feather as an alternative for those who are collectors not cardists. They would look simply beautiful. With a limited palette, I can imagine them being right up there with the Psenicka/Ericksson Butterfly backs

Personally, I like having the bird names on the cards. And the feather on the back is one of the draws for the deck. It looks great.
