Playing Card Stores

Hey guys,

I know boardwalkmagic isn't a legit site these days. Is playingcards.net a real website for cards? I wanted to know
your guys' take before I made a purchase on there.

Edit: I just noticed their contact and location are Gambler's Warehouse. Is this their affiliate sale site?

I think you can trust all the stores that come up on find-cards.com - searching for indictus pristine there finds the playingcards.net you picked up.

Do note that many stores that are legit are not in find-cards, so not finding it there does not mean it cannot be had

Several years back I had left my cart as it was, thinking it would just reset. But PCN emailed and gave me a 10% code GW2017 to complete my order. I tried it in subsequent years and found that I could get 10% off my PCN order by just changing the year.

Give 'GW2023' a try to see if that code still works.

Note: Not sure if they've improved on this recently, but PCN was surprisingly horrible at updating their inventory. They sell on Ebay as well and they seem pretty bad at making sure their stock was updated properly. Not sure if that's still the case, but there were frequent complains on orders getting cancelled due to that issue. They also shipped a partial order and refund the rest. But you won't know about it until after you got the shipping notification. So you couldn't replace the out of stock deck with another deck.

Small matter since US shipping is usually free, but it can still be annoying.

I came here to share the same warning. Over the years I had three orders that turned out to be out of stock after I requested an update a couple of weeks after ordering. If you can't find a deck anywhere except for playingcards.net, chances are their inventory hasn't been updated. That doesn't mean they won't have it, but I would keep expectations low if it's a hard-to-find one.

I have been luckier than most I guess, though I don’t buy there often - and I tend to go there for those hard to find or oddly low priced items - always had what I ordered

Thank you guys for the insight! This is all really helpful and hopefully can be helpful for anyone who wonders in the future.

I just got an email saying my order was shipped, so I hope that means they had the stock. They must have an archaic system on the backend to keep track of stock.

Well, I just got notified that the item I ordered is out of stock, two days after the likely automated shipped email was sent out. How disappointing. I will respond to them asking them if there's a better way for them to keep track of their stock as this appears to be a common enough issue.

I got the same email. I imagine for the same product. What I don't understand is I also got a shipped email and if I click on it, it says my package was picked up. How is this possible?

This is the second time this has happened to me in a couple of weeks. An item says it shipped, the tracking number says it was picked up, and then I get an email saying they don't have it in stock. This earlier time it was an Ebay purchase from bmpokerworld. Maybe they are also playingcards.net? I have purchased hundreds if not thousands of items off of webstores and Ebay and I had never had that happen. Now twice in a couple of weeks.

That's bizarre. What did the tracking on the previous one eventually say?

Good question. I had not checked in awhile. It says picked up by shipping partner, USPS awaits item. That is still on its wau. So, apparently USPS never got the package. I am not sure who a shipping partner is.

I just checked the playingcards.net tracking and it says the same. Odd and misleading when it says it has shipped.

I think GW is the shipping partner mentioned and they're generating tracking/label before checking stock. Most systems are accurate enough to tell you beforehand that the item is sold out so that situations like this are prevented. Now I'm out of luck because the deck I removed from my Kickstarter add-ons after receiving the shipped notification, is no longer available.

I fell for the playingcards.net (Gamblers Warehouse) trap big time. They supposedly had the deck I had been searching high and low for. Being in Australia the shipping was a killer - the cheapest option was $44US. So I went right through their catalogue and put in an order for $200 to satisfy myself that I could justify the shipping for that many decks.
After it had supposedly shipped, I get the email that the special deck that was the basis of my order and after asking for two, was about a third of my order, was not available. I should have cancelled the whole order!!!!!!!!! Instead I double up on some of the other decks and they still get a $200 order from me. Stupid me

Man, that sucks. It may be best to double check on their Ebay store to confirm if they actually have it there or not. It seems that they keep better inventory checking there. They most likely will be more responsive on Ebay messaging as well if you want to contact them on the availability!

Yes, I believe bmpokerworld on EBay is also playingcards.net/Gamblers. Their inventory looks the same including the same out-of-stock elsewhere stuff (that you suspect they don’t have). I found this out the hard way when two separate purchases fell through under identical circumstances. ‘Both’ sellers were unresponsive and eBay had to intervene to cancel the order for me.

bmpokerworld was a previous owner of this site (prior to Mike R) and also used to run a store. In fact the 2013 UC Deck was produced by him in conjunction with Randy Butterfield. I'm not sure, but I thought he had sold off his inventory and brand, maybe it was to Gamblers.
