[Buyer's Guide] Organic Playing Cards (OPC)

Unread post by laitostarr777 »

About Organic Playing Cards - OPC
Organic Playing Cards is a series of decks that focuses on organic designs. Inspired from casino decks, every deck will feature either a fruit or other organic food on both sides and the choice of background color (and sometimes, broken border elements). The Jokers, Aces (mostly the traditional Ace of Spades), and courts are modified according to theme, along with the color scheme for the pips, numbers, letter, and artworks. The brand is a brainchild of Cameron "Cam" Toner. He wanted to pursue in cardistry and magic, as well as custom playing cards. It was first started as a normal release by producer Riffle Shuffle, but eventually, it has grown into it's own brand and have it's own community. OPC recruits a team of cardists and magicians - DK Magician (David Koehler), Kaitlyn Chen, Joe Feldpausch. The main designer for OPC is Alexis Grant. All of the cards are printed by USPCC on Crushed Stock (except for Exotic and a few others), and the brand partners up with Kevin Yu of Riffle Shuffle to do the production with distribution and sales. You can get OPC decks through Riffle Shuffle webstore.

OPC Passport Reward Program
This is a program where those who supports the brand will be rewarded with a very exclusive deck. When you are getting your first OPC deck from the webstore, you will received ONE Passport [You will get TWO Passports if you get 12 decks (1 brick) or more (24 decks or 2 bricks)]. The passport contains six slots for six holographic stickers featuring the fruit of the released decks. Orders of 11 decks or less will get you ONE holographic sticker, while orders of 12 decks or more will get you TWO holographic stickers. Once your passport have been filled with 6 stickers, you send the filled passport back to the address listed on the passport [you are paying for the send back], and they send you back with the exclusive deck [they covered the ship back]. Instructions on how to redeem your Passport Reward can be found HERE.

Every new OPC decks will have an 'Early Access' - you may be able to get the deck 24 hours earlier than the official release day. If you order 3 or more decks during the early release, you will get TWO holographic stickers, while orders of 12 decks or more will get your THREE holographic stickers. With these, you will be able to fill up two passports in one go! 'Early Access' is given to active members of the OPC Discord Group AND those who have sent in their filled OPC Passport once.

OPC Garden Hangout
This is a community made by OPC that welcomes anyone (and I mean ANYBODY) that are interested in playing cards [you DON'T HAVE to own any OPC decks just to be in there]. Whether you are a conjurer who does magic trick with cards, a cardist who juggles cards like a boss, or a collector who appreciates artworks and crafts on small scale - you can hang out with people who shared the same interests. You can also play online poker, discuss about games and others stuffs. Mainly, the hangout serves the purpose of providing updates of the brand: teasers of new releases, upcoming events, and much more. The hangout group is in Discord, and it is all managed by a member of OPC team, Luis Wolfenschneider. Who knows, if you happened to be active in chatting, you might just be lucky to be in there~

OPC Collaboration
Organic Playing Cards brand had collaborated with other brands as well. These are the collaborations:
  • Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation = Shortened as ALSF - founded by Alexandra "Alex" Scott, this is a foundation created to collect funds for charity to help children suffering from cancer. The money is gathered from sales of cups of lemonade πŸ‹, freshly squeezed lemons that you can found amongst yard stands or small stores. These money will be used to fund research and cure of cancer and in hopes of helping children suffered by it.
  • Wounded Corner = Playing cards enthusiast and reseller Steve Rosenfield started Wounded Corner as retailer of many decks of cards, until eventually he created his own deck of cards. His collaboration with OPC produced yet another food themed deck with a story: Papa Leon's Wicket Donuts 🍩. ! DISCLAIMER ! - This deck series is not part of the main line of OPC.
  • Mother Juice = Store selling fresh juice πŸ₯€ and salad made by organically grown and produced fruits and vegetables. OPC establishes a pop-store for the release of the collaboration deck in Boston, Massachussets, USA.

OPC Gilded Decks
Starting from Far-Os deck, OPC is now doing a gilded variant from the standard edition. To gain access to the gilded deck, you have to get a minimum of 6 decks (half-brick) [It was a minimum 12 deck (a brick) for Far-Os - received a bad feedback and adjusted for next releases]. The access will be given to those who qualified, with a password for their eyes only. After a period of time, these gilded decks will be on public listing for others to fight for grabs. The gilded decks will have a holographic numbered seal with the icons of the deck titles and it will be extremely limited. Because the nature of gilding process, expect long delays for them decks - usually months after the release of the standard version. Currently, the limit is changed to allow getting more gilded deck - you can get TWO gilded decks for a half-brick bought, FOUR gilded decks for a full-brick.
