New deck called "Wild West" by SVI GROUP

Unread post by Mischievous »

Hello,

I'm working on the new deck called "Wild West", will go in pairs - Cowboys / Indians.

I now have a Queen and back.
I think all the pieces to do in black and white style, back print metallic ink.

What you think of it so far?

I like the back!

The queen is also good, needs just tweaking. I would like the colored courts better, or perhaps black and white with strong red highlights...?

Anyways, you are on a right track; 3:10 to Yuma :D

Excellent back.

I like the colored Queen but you need to hide her fingers so the rope doesn't look transparent, unless you're coloring all of her and the rope and this coloring was a start. Nice pip too.
Move on, nothing to see here.

Is it difficult to recognize the other pips?
Thank you.

Yes. I don't see what the extra stuff on the bottom of the pips and the letters do for the deck. Simple 3D pips and letters would be better.

I'm actually fine with the pips, I know there are a few complaints about it.
The style he's going for is the old west style and the flair on the bottom of the pips is an old timey flair that fits right in.

It kind of reminds me of the Gold Coast Casino Logo:

I'd suggest maybe making the flair a tad more subdued so it doesn't distract from the more important parts of the pip.
Either make it a little smaller or fill it in as appropriate to have it blend in a little better.
I think that might be a fair compromise.

I like the idea of the pips, the issue I have is that with pips like that for it to be legible they would have to be on the larger side and I much prefer small pips in general. But a wild west decks could fit well with big loud pips. Hard to say.

Mischievous - Yep, you are on the right track. It's good that your index is larger than normal. Your pip is basically your suit indicator. Anything smaller and you might have to call this an art deck. It is true the rank and suit need to be recognizable very quickly. You usually want the color of the pip to be at least 51% of the image. Yours looks to be about 40%. I bet if you bumped it up a bit ppl would stop bitch'in. Also, try to move your index closer to the edge on the top and left side. You have the room. Don't play it safe...

Hi guys.
Slightly changed the card back.
I also want to show a few cards Made in different angles.
In fact, the deck is almost drawn.
The series of decks in color can show later.
I would like to hear your opinion.
Thank you.

In my opinion it is very simple in comparison with the other pictures.

New back is worse. You have Indians as the Spade/Club but just some hard to see brown feathers. I don't like the "design" you used as as fill around the edges either, it's too busy, noisy, chaotic looking.

Tuck images need some combo of cowboy and Indian look.

JQK font needs change too. The K looks like R at first glance.
Move on, nothing to see here.
