I needed the extra time. Very busy at work this past week, and the pressure won't let up until Sunday.

Two decks that shipped in December that should have been mentioned in the lists of "Decks that qualify as 2016 releases":
Denim deck by CPC
PlayingColor: the World's First Coloring Playing cards by PlayingColor

Just two days to go to get your votes on to decide the best decks of 2016!
There has been a wide range of decks nominated this year so your vote could still decide a winner...

And voting is over!
I'll need a little while to clear up any queries (so if we are still PMing dont worry - your vote counts) and double check entries and so on.
I should be able to publish the results by the end of the week - so stay tuned!

Re: 2016 Decks of the Year Contest - Voting has closed!
Now that votes are closed, I'll make a couple quick observations:
DAMN this was a difficult year for voting. Far, far too many very, very deserving decks in most categories. 2016 was an amazing year for custom cards.
Also, I'm not sure (and I don't feel like looking it up just now), but I think this may be the first year that I chose an overall best deck that I didn't actually pick as the top winner in any specific category (even though it was a very close call in several categories). Absolutely a case here of the whole being so much greater than just the sum of its parts.
Looking forward to seeing the results, but yeah... this was a great year for playing cards.
Cheers!

Re: 2016 Decks of the Year Contest - Voting has closed!
100% agreed. So many categories were almost coin-flip close for me. Deciding at another moment, I might've put my current 2nd choices in any number of top slots.
My overall deck winner was "a close second" to me in several categories and I only actually gave it top marks for two -- well, only two of the categories that deal with actual characteristics of the decks...

I can tell you that over 100 different decks were named in voting, and most categories have more than one deck in 1st, 2nd or 3rd. Some very close calls...

Re: 2016 Decks of the Year Contest - Voting has closed!
The results are in and published at the start of the topic
All winning decks and tops scoring votes can be found here.
(Also published is the Spreadsheet used to calculate the winners - if you have trouble viewing it and would like your individual points breakdown please PM me.
In one or two cases where decks like Anubs / Osiris were nominated together by the majority, I gave you credit if you nominated a particular deck or colour variant. It was fairer to entrants and the projects in terms of maximising your points (but really had no impact on the overall results).
The Non-Poker deck proved to be a confusing category, and there were quite a few DQs there - but the spread of noiminated decks was so wide in those disqualifications that even if they were included it wouldn't have changed the results or points - so don't feel bad if you found that hard to pick!
As with previous years - first place picks their prize first and so on down the list - so HFMJ you are up!
Post here which prize you would like and I'll mark you next to that prize tier. Once you have chosen pm the person donating the prize to arrange shipping!
(NB where points are equal the person who submitted their entry first prioritised)

Re: 2016 Decks of the Year Contest - THE WINNERS!
The results are quite surprising for me
I thought that Cocktail Hour would make it easy to get in the top 3 of the "Best Rookie Deck"
Also surprising that "Cardistry Heros" or "Cardistry Ninjas" by De'Vo (Worldcardexperts) didn't make it in the Top 3 of
"Best Deck for Fanning" or "Best Deck for Flourishing"
Congrats to all winners (creators & all members who voted)
Edit: aswell for "Best Tuck" the "ICONS Signature Edition" made of Black Leather with gold foil

I did much better than I thought I would. Congratulations to all the winners.
Quick question: what was considered non-poker.
Also for next year, maybe we could add best tarot deck to the categories. So many are being produced nowadays.

Lol HFMJ won also the LUXX giveaway by JP Playing Cards a while back.
Guy has mad skillz.
Edit: Congratulations to all the winners! Anyone else suprised that the Sisterhood of Blood wasn't in the TOP 3 best backs? I really had to thought between that and the Icons Imperial, it was so close.

Ouch. Used the wrong Omnia project name for a bunch of categories and missed a ton of points. That's what I get for making my picks at 2:00 in the morning.
Congrats to all the winners.
Edit: 19 points missed. Kinda stings. Damn you, Giovanni, and all your awesome decks.

Re: 2016 Decks of the Year Contest - THE WINNERS!
Wow. Great results.
There were so many great decks to choose from this year that I actually found it really hard to choose between some decks for certain categories.
Even though I knew which decks I'd voted for when I was scrolling through the list of winners I thought to myself: I don't think I'll have done too well this year. But then to see my name in SECOND place I was shocked & stoked at the same time. I think this will be the pinnacle of my UC voting - I doubt I'll ever reach these heights again.
Congrats to all the winners & many thanks to Mike & Joe for running a super smooth contest, to all the people who donated prizes & of course to the designers who we couldn't have this contest without.

Because the first place was tied, there is no second place, as the first two decks are the number 1 and 2. If it would have been a three way tie for the first place, then there wouldn't have been anyone on the third place either.Stockholm17 wrote: 2nd position?

Don't worry, I'm human! After SINS I will need months before launch another big project
Maybe summer, but more probably autumn.
And I won't launch anything else before Pantheon will be delivered.

Re: 2016 Decks of the Year Contest - THE WINNERS!
I was so surprised with the results that I didn’t know what to say. Of course I wanted a good result, but the first place is something incredible. I spent a great deal of time choosing my votes because this last year , there were released so many great decks and we had a lot of options to choose from.
I am so grateful that I found this amazing and dedicated community about 2 years ago. It has helped me a lot with my passion for playing cards and made a big difference. It was like another world, because I didn’t know at that time that there are so many different decks.
I want to say a big THANK YOU to the organizers, very good job, and to those who donated for the prizes. Also for the designers and producers, keep up the good work!
I’ll try to pick my prize as fast as possible.
