I`m looking for a 1922 Waddingtons deck
The deck i`m after has the first Waddingtons Ace of Spades.
d03328sA11.jpg
This Ace was only used in the first year of Waddingtons production and was removed from circulation soon after Goodalls complained that it resembled their AoS at that time.
but there are a lot of decks still out there.
I may as well try and catch the wind. :D -jase-

I got my '54 TAOTL deck Monday, along with the word this morning from Rodolfo Pardi that the package with 4 reprints from Del Negro has been shipped:

Posta Raccomandata Internazionale RA755766436IT
a.. accettato dal centro postale il 20-GIU-2014a.. in lavorazione ai
Centri Postali dal 20-GIU-2014a.. consegnato al destinatario
stato accettato
Dettaglio
a.. In lavorazione presso il centro postale di MILANO 56 in data
20-GIU-2014
a.. Accettato dal centro postale di MILANO 56 in data 20-GIU-2014

(3 point bonus shot if you can read that - I can't, except says it's outbound from the international post centre and originally came from Milano)

The TAOTL box could be in better condition, and it's missing the pamphlet, but it's older than I am (by a few months - again, '54 was a good year)

ahahah - OK. Well, this is from Rodolfo Pardi, my friend the chess master and referee who's wife is Evelyne Nicod of Paris, and she is the person who did all of the artwork for the "Gatteria" (Italian Cats) decks and Tarot decks done in the 70's, 80's and 90's. They've been married for 40 years, just like I have, and we exchange postcards and pictures during the holidays with our children (el Gatto). I have one sitting in front of me now, actually. The familiar deck was also Piatnik #2117 and 15,000 tins were made between 1995 & 1998, but I just bought the remainder of Lyne's Gatteria decks in December. There were only some 20 decks left, and I had her sign them mostly. I also got the only two Black & White 'gatto' decks from her earlier 1989 series which was self-published by Modiano. Those are the only two of that deck I have ever seen, and all of these are in pristine, un-opened mint condition.

Mike - do you want one sent to France, I suppose? Del Negro only ships to Italiano addresses, but 'Dolf did this as a personal favor. He, Lyne and I go way back, long before I ever knew that she was his wife, and I review his chess books for good grammar, technical accuracy and 'rhythm', so he can sell the English translation on Amazon's ebook service for Kindle, etc. He's writing a book called "FCM - A Handbook" (Fundamenal Chess Moves) which is for an A/B level player looking to be more along the Expert or Junior Master level, although he 'retired' a GM in 1985, he still plays at a high B level, and acts as the librarian for the FCI (Federacion Chess Italiano) and has for almost 20 years. The thing about chess for those not familiar, your rating changes with every tournament.

As I've noted before, "Inspector KT" AKA "Acadia", the monster Maine coon cat sometimes even leaves enough room for me to breath: (and yes, that's a swordfish bill behind me - I live on the coast)

That's a HUGE p...uh, cat! The one picture you get clear as a bell on here is of your cat and your nose...hmmm :D

Germany, not France. More was just curious that they ship ONLY within Italy. It would be a cool deck to have, but it seems a pain in the butt to get them. Hmmm... If your friends could get their hands on a few more, I would gladly pay for them :)

After seeing 3 mint sealed decks go for $300+ each I finally landed my whale:

It's a USPCC printed Bee Casino deck as used in Monaco in mid to late 70s.

There's a couple of dents and the cellophane is torn, but is sealed and in really very good condition for its age - and it was a real steal at $30 shipped.

Question, does anyone know anything about this Bee deck, I haven't received it yet, but what I have been told that its from a casino in Maryland (don't no which one) and that its from 1980-present, that's all the information I got. Been collecting cards for a few years and I have never seen this deck, is this a rare deck or common? any information would be much appreciated, thanks

They didn't mention what casino? As far as I can tell that's a Chinese New Year (goat/lamb zodiac) with the traditional greeting up top. I've never seen it before to be honest. Interesting find. :)

Does it have a copyright date on it? 1980 is an odd date for this deck as the closest Lunar year of the goat to that was in 1979 and then every 12 years hence (including this year).
It might well be very new indeed! (But like the others I've never seen it before...)

There's also the issue that (according to wikipedia) the oldest casino in Maryland opened in 2010 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ca ... n_Maryland" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Agreed. I live in Maryland (have my whole life, 44 years now), and I know there were no casinos here in the 80's, 90's or even the early 2000's. It wasn't until the past 5 years or so that casinos were opened here, and only recently (maybe the past two years max..?) have they allowed table/card games. When the casinos were first opened, it was nothing but slots.

No idea where that deck came from, but if it came from a casino in Maryland, it's probably less than a few years old. If it's older than that, definitely not from a MD casino. ;)

I still haven't gotten a reply from her yet, as soon as I hear from her I will give an update, when I receive the deck, probably sometime next week ill see if it has any information on it, it should have sometime on the bottom of the deck. Ya I checked out the wiki page looks like casinos have only been in Maryland since 2010. I'm assuming its new then, they released the goat deco this year, and when I look at the picture looks like it has red or pink foil, I don't think they used foil in the 80s, but might be wrong.

The reason I posted hear is because I don't have a white whale, but my white whale is something rare that no one has seen, lets just say I enjoy the hunt. (like bigfoot, no one knows what he exactly looks like but people look for him all the time)

Thanks for all the info, much appreciated

I got a replay from her, so she lives in Maryland and said it comes from the Palace Casino (Maryland casino) in La Center (http://www.nwcasinos.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). She said these decks were specially ordered for there 2015 Chinese New Year party.

Well that settles it! Very nice find! I wonder why she couldn't have added that to the description instead of keeping it so cryptic.
