I'll be getting my White Whale (which is the Turku Castle deck that was printed in Finland in the 1940's) soon thanks to the help of Lorenzo! I managed to find one for auction in Sweden and Lorenzo just won the auction today. Now the deck will be off to Stockholm and then Lorenzo will send it to me here in Kuopio.

For those that don't know the deck which I'm talking about, here is the picture taken by Jase (Jock1971) of the deck in his collection

Arabesque by Lotrek. The deck is out of my price range but I love the innovation and the gorgeous art involved in this deck.

You never know, sometime in the future you might buy some decks that have a rabid increase in their price and you will be able to trade yourself an Arabesque deck.

*sigh* my white whale is still out there somewhere...

The bizarre surrealist StrangeLove deck, designed by artist Randy Mora and produced as a promotional deck for the StrangeLove Energy Drink in Australia:

allllllmmmost got it from an awesome friend here, but alas it never made it - must've gotten lost somewhere in the post... and it was heartbreaking to be so hyped to finally find someone with a deck and to arrange a buy, along with all the excited anticipation to at long last be able to add it to my collection, only to be left waiting on end for a deck that'd never actually come...

If someone - ANYONE - has a spare of this deck they'd be willing to part with, you'd sure make this girl super happy - because, as the mega-weirdo that I am, we all know I could def use a little StrangeLove in my life lmao

That's very true! The nice thing is that I open all of my decks, so if I find a well-priced "seconds" deck of Arabesque, that might be a way to save money and get what I want :)

From nearly the beginning of my card collecting journey I've always wanted an Omnia Suprema deck. I got hold of the four not-so-limited variants early on and then a Magnifica later when Giovanni very kindly gave me a personal discount when I had an issue with an order from his site. (The issue was a misunderstanding on my part; Giovanni explained and put me right, but still insisted on giving me a discount.)

Anyway, the Suprema was still out of my comfort zone cost-wise, until just before this New Year when I saw the first three deck Omnia set on RunitDecks.com for an amazing PHP3750 (Philippine Pesos) or around £55! I added it to my basket and checked out as quick as I could!

And 16 long days later a parcel arrived ...

My white whale is Lorenzo's Gemini Experimental...

Strangely my first encounter with Lorenzo's artwork was Gemini Experimental, albeit how little information there are online. Somehow I was searching for the meaning of "Gemini" then saw this masterpiece and was dumbstruck. My first purchase of his decks was the HoRS Cartomancer, which was one of my initial 5 decks when I started getting interested in cards. But Gemini Experimental was a deck I've sought after in vain and eventually had to lower my expectations and pick up the secondary Gemini Noctis. Now I have Gemini Ignis coming my way, but I really hope Experimental would swim pass one day...

They used to be around. You might check through the devks for sale and there might still be one listed. I traded my spare a few months ago. Keep tabs on eBay. I do see them occasionally.

It isn't a complete solution, but if you purchase one of his Gimini Notebooks, he is including a Gemini Experimental Uncut tuck (something I don't have. Scratch that, just ordered one myself). Oh, best thing of all...you get an original pincil sketch from Lorenzo. Yep :ugking:

If you want an uncut Experimental Tuck, only two remaining....

PipChick, if I had that Dr. Strangelove deck, I would give it to you for free including shipping just to get RID of it! That thing gives me the serious heebie jeebies. Shudder...

Or buy a Pullox Beta from Dyntine for $140. You can also see if the one on hold is going through, if not try to nab it. You never know.

And it's funny that it creeps you out so much because I absolutely adore it lol - but I, myself, also tend to creep people out too... :ugthink: lol

Anyways, if anyone out there does happen to have this deck, PLEASE let me know what I can do to pry it from your hands so I can finally add it to my own collection lol

but seriously, I want this deck bad

Hey Brad, in fact I did go through Dentyne to ask about the one on hold which I totally missed when he misplaced it under Lotrek's category. Seems that I'm in luck because he did mention he might have a spare one. But...

The crazy thing isn't that this particular luck favored me, but instead I completely struck GOLD with a different source :o
That means that currently I do have a Gemini Experimental being sent to me at the moment! But before I conclude that my white whale has been fulfilled, let me just make sure I receive this deck before I update anything here ;)

Well, almost congrats on hooking a white whale! Let me know when you get it. I am looking forward to picking up Lorenzo's Gemini notebook, but especially an uncut Experimental tuck and most especially an original sketch (I already have a sketch of the Jack of Spades from House of the Rising Spade that I love). If you like Lorenzo's stuff, you should really consider becoming one of his Patreon Sponsors. I have never been disappointed by backing any of Lorenzo's projects.

Re: The "White Whale" Wish List

Unread post by Decknowledgy »

So, so much for the anticipation of a white whale fulfilled, here's mine in its glorious glamour!
I couldn't be grateful enough receiving this deck since the source that sent me this deck was... none other than the man himself: Lorenzo. :o

Chance was I was asking him about the patron options he has on Patreon, which eventually happened to be my very first successful subscription on the site. And by chance, I came up with the idea to go for it and ask whether he happened to have any Gemini Experimental lying around. Previously, I've been contacted by a few UC members happy to spare a deck, which I'm most grateful to, but the price tag was so high I can't afford it. But with Lorenzo, not only was he willing to spare a deck for me, he struck me an affordable deal (still high but good enough for my budget) and track-mailed it to me within hours. I got the deck within 4 days  .

Anyways, there's my fulfilled story of my White Whale. In addition, this fulfilled my Gemini collection since the Experimental holds the Terra deck anyways. I don't bear slaying the REAL White Whale from Stockholm, but the creature was gracious enough to drop me this awesome gem as an unforgettable souvenir. :D

Thanks Lorenzo! Such a guy of great culture.

That's a great story with a great ending. Congratulations, Decknowledgy, and hats off to Lorenzo for being such an awesome human being.

I contacted him myself when I was trying to get hold of a No. 17 Le Chat Rouge some time ago. I managed to find and order one soon after and then, coincidentally, Lorenzo replied and offered me one from his private collection; I felt terribly guilty because I had to decline his kind offer as I couldn't afford to buy both.
