Currently I've backed 136 Kickstarter campaigns within the last 4 years. I'll say about 30% of that are decks I'll keep, the other 70% I've sold or gave away.

With Kickstarter including decks I've bought at other places, 40% I really like/keep. I'm much more selective. When I started, I went crazy buying up everything in amazement of how many different decks there are.

When I don't like something, I pass. No matter who did it, how many were printed or how many (re)colors exist."

Less only because im broke af rn and i don't buy them in bricks to re-sell them =/ but for the art and dedication put into a deck...but for me to break the bank now the deck has to be a 10/10 nothing less.

To revive this thread a bit, soon you'll know for sure if you actually need LESS playing cards.

Or MORE playing cards... ;)

But, if LESS is a new deck from Lotrek, then, yes, I suppose I need LESS playing cards, as well.
I am likewise sticking by my statement.

That said, I am reminded of WKRP in Cincinatti (a sitcom here in the US that only some people on this board will remember):

Uh...Wild Turkeys do fly. They can fly rather well, even if usually short distances. If they don’t get hunted, even wild turkeys can get rather bold around people eventually.

Hey, if Benjamin Franklin has his way, the Turkey would be our national bird. Given how well they are camouflaged in Washington DC, that does make sense. It would be had to find them amongst our elected officials.

It is not a minimalist deck, but simple for Lotrek. The words that come to my mind are elegant and simple. It is definitely a nicely designed deck. Bravo.

Agreed.

It looks simple but very elegant at the same time.
I'm loving the back design & the colour of the courts, Hopefully there'll be a few luxury touches added to the tuck box.

Re: Do you think you need LESS playing cards?

I've been struggling lately with the idea of a minimalistic deck. I came to the conclusion that playing cards and strictly minimal design do not really appeal to me. However, taking the amount of detail down to the minimum needed for an elegant design can be a fascinating thing to try. So I decided that instead of trying to do a minimalistic deck, I would try to design a deck with LESS elements. Believe me, doing this is equally difficult as doing an intricate deck. My solutions are the use of only 2 colors on each card and only 3 colors in total (Black, deep red and silver). A double sided stock (pearlescent white and black and a portion of an intricate back design, opening the appetite for MORE to come. ;)

I don’t see too many of these types of decks. The closest to it I have recently is the Essentia Deck.

I am liking your version more. Although I think Mankin Chan did a good job as well.

I like how there are elements like the scroll and vine work and indices that I immediately associate with you, but crowns that have been simplified. I also like how you eliminate the arms, but keep nice hands.

Glad you didn't go Minimalist. A friend sent this my way. Ultimate minimalism : https://www.areaware.com/products/minim ... =472356541" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

However considering you are calling this Less, I feel the courts have too much detail on them. Have you tried removing the patterns on the courts. Would be interesting to see them with just the lines of their clothes and different shades of solid colour making up the patterns or give them some texture. That would truly be less.

Of course, considering Lotrek's past decks, this deck really is less in comparison to his previous projects! Hopefully the price will also be a lot less...

"LESS" is literal: It should not be confused with "FEW". The deck has less elements than what I usually do but it's not a minimalistic deck. I think there is nothing more difficult than a minimalistic deck which doesn't seem lazy.

Anyway, the deck is already printed and there are two versions: Gold and silver. It will be released after summer and the price will be normal.

I like it.
From what I can see of the back design it is reminiscent of the Venexiana Dark decks.

Ooo... should have saved my comments till I saw more. This is very nice. Simple and elegant. However, considering all the different decks Lotrek's produced, what's normal price these days for Lotrek? Player's edition KS prices? (I'm half joking here) ;)
