I'm one who can look past add copy and appreciate product. I don't need "bells and whistles" for a deck to be great - and I gotta say, I have not held a deck of cards that feels this good in a super long time, yes - Brooklyn game me a free review copy, but if it were crap, i'd say it was crap.

There was a time when USPCC wowed me and I didn't like any other stocks, but this deck feels like the Superior decks but on steroids.

Oh and there is a HUGE feature built in that makes this deck a cut above, you just can't "see" it in the pictures.

;)

Ok, let's put aside the ridiculous statements that make them lose all credibility for a moment. We're still left with a self-admitted simple AoS and Jokers with clip-art level bridges on them along with a back pattern that required zero design. Absolutely no other effort was put into this deck. So what else would make this deck great?

I respect that people have their own individual preferences, but how many "latest and greatest" stocks and finishes are we going to see from EPCC? If every new stock/finish variation is so great (and they certainly insist it is), then why are they always changing it? This is supposed to be on EPCC's Classic finish. Again, we all know what that is. Even if these decks felt like Ohio-produced casino-grade Bee stock with Cambric finish (and it won't even remotely approach that, by the way), the design, or lack thereof, doesn't come close to making this great.

If this huge, un-seeable feature is so great, maybe they should talk about something substantive like that instead of babbling on about being the rarest deck of our generation. Regardless of what this invisible feature is, it won't justify pricing this at $24.00/$28.00 per deck shipped, and that's the bottom line.

I appreciate your video reviews of custom playing cards, you do good work there. But in this case, you lose me. If you hadn't received a free deck for review, I have serious doubts that you would shell out close to $30.00 in the future for the Brooklyn 101 Back, and I'm confounded why you would stake your reputation as a credible deck reviewer by positively recommending this barely custom deck at that price. But hey, clearly your cup of tea isn't my cup of tea on this one and to each his own. . .

To be fair, I never heard of the deck until the designer reached out to me - but when I saw the decks hidden feature - I practically begged him to let me add it to the review and I told him that it would help drive up sales - but he wasn't worried about selling only 1,000 decks. (he has over 10 thousand followers on Instagram) so the deck will sell out fast I am sure.

It's a shame - because I have never seen a feature like this in a deck before - I even showed it to my wife and she was impressed and we all know how hard it is to impress our wives with playing card collecting - HA HA !!!!

I think a lot of people who find out about this unique deck too late will be begging him to make a second release. The deck comes with an 8 page pdf that goes into the history, features and unique aspects - it's legit.

It's like the transformers slogan - "....there's more than meets the eye."

OK, fair enough. I'm not a magician so its hard for me to imagine a feature that's so great and never been done before in a deck of cards. And if this guy is so confident about this hidden feature that he won't even talk about it, and that he won't have any trouble selling 1000 decks at $24.00/$28.00 a pop, then more power to him.

Totally - and since you and a lot of other collectors are not magicians and don't really care about that - and would rather use your money for design and custom features, its perfectly understandable to want to pass on this deck.

Phrases like "game changers" and "best this" and "best that" get thrown around a lot and so we have to be careful about what we spend our hard earned $$$ on -best to ask questions and be a little skeptical when huge claims like this are made.

"Best" means something different to each consumer.

If David is excited about this deck then it does mean there is more to it than meets the eye. The price is, indeed high, even if the improved classic finish is accounted for. I assume that this hidden feature or innovation will help drive up the sales as soon as the word goes around about this special feature.

Awaiting deck review now.

Now having known that there is a "special" aspect of this deck I find the above statement (from the 1st page of this thread) kind of rude. It's one thing if the mystery feature is to be kept a secret for some reason (I don't understand why but to each his own). But it's another thing entirely to chastise members of this forum when it sounds like an explanation is not only entirely possible but will also help people "see." Again, I'm not asking for an explanation (though it would be nice) but a better response to sinjin's statement could have been, "The reason we're charging so much for a largely un-customized deck is because of a secret."

It's actually a quote from Thomas Aquinas ... and it's about "seeing God" and the difference between believers and atheists. To those who have faith (can see) God - they don't need an explanation. And to those who can not see God, not amount of proof will satisfy.

David Blaine used this quote before he began one of his specials. I can't speak for the poster, but I am sure the quote is not about the deck's secret, or directed at you or any consumer. He is using it, like Blaine did - to refer to magic.

While I appreciate your explanation and now understand the source of the statement, I would also like to point out that David Blaine and quite possibly The Brooklyn PCC are in the art of deception. Putting your faith in religion and God and putting your faith in magicians are two totally different things. I myself enjoy magic and appreciate what magicians can do but if you needed someone to watch your wallet for a second, who would you give it to- Jesus or David Blaine? (rhetorical question) Maybe I'm thinking about it too deeply but my overall point is that if it weren't for your info, the project creator would still seem smug on this forum for portraying a deck of cards that on the surface is no different than your average, run-of-the-mill EPCC deck as if they're the greatest thing since sliced bread without even so much as hinting that the deck may actually have a feature that could make it the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Either announce that there's a secret and THAT is the cause of the high price. Or don't tell anyone there's a secret and take the backlash that comes with being "mysterious" until people find out how cool the secret actually is. You can't have it both ways.
