Remember, this is a crowd funded item that will not be available until October.
Well now you definitely have my interest!!! I couldn't justify buying a $100 and having to choose between opening it and never being able to sell vs being a tuckbox collector. This I can get behind though, even if I am pretty much out of wall space (stairway works too, right? ;) )

QUESTION/REQUEST - Can we get a render of the uncut layout? The image shown doesn't match the description (8 wide, 7 tall) and obviously is missing the other cards. Are these not yet complete or do you just not yet know the layout? I'll probably get no matter the layout, but it would help.

Also, I saw this on the KS page "ONLY the Cartamundi edition is uncut-able", what does that mean?

As listed on pre-order page(s) for the uncut:

The only non court cards I've seen posted, as listed on KS page:

As Bruno already noted, we originally were going to use MPC to print the "Player's Deck", but now Cartamundi is printing both. MPC doesn't make traditional uncuts, although they will print you a 55-card sheet (11 wide, 5 tall) if you want them for $20 per sheet, I believe.

The picture is a place-holder right now, but Lotrek will post a mock-up of the uncut sheet shortly. It should be more-or-less identical format as the USPCC uncut sheets, with 52 cards, 3 Jokers + one double-backer. The OG deck had 3 Jokers plus a German-only point chart for Rummy (I think, not 100% certain). I didn't see any reason to reproduce that one, and I figured most uncut collectors would much prefer a double backer card or at least one that has the back design on the face of the card so it shows on the side of the uncut with the face cards.

In most cases, it's Ace of Spades through the 10, J, Q, K and repeat for hearts, with clubs and diamonds following in reverse order - Jokers at the end of the deck with the double backer. I am not doing the layout, so I'll let Lotrek give us the skinny on specifics when he's laid it out, and at this point there are still some cards including most of the digit / number cards that have not been completed. I expect that all will be complete here shortly, and then they will be sent to Cartamundi for their digital proofing, followed by physical proofs, and finally production decks with uncuts.

The 'stand-in' picture is simply the 12 court cards shown together as an example of what those look like.

Think I made a mistake by not backing this project during the Kickstarter campaign...

Mike - How many sets are available?

Last time I did a count it was around 60, so I know there are at least 50 sets still available (out of 250 total that were authorized by Cartamundi's A.S.S. division in Germany).

The uncuts don't count towards that total, so I suspect that there will be around 550-600 total impressions, with 20-30 uncuts and 250 each of the gilded restoration and 250 Player's decks.

They are going to press this weekend, but I wanted to have a little more before I post the updates.

I just posted an update on Facebook for these, and rather than repeat it word for word, here is the link:

Basically It's a shot of most of the as yet unseen courts, along with a warning that you have to order an uncut "really soon now" before the final press run. Once the proofs are approved, those will be like hen's teeth. Right now, I expect only 30 will be made.

(thanks to ecNate for the link fix)

Damnit, I'm trying to cut back, especially on uncuts, but I couldn't resist, Mike. 1 Dondorf uncut ordered.

Can't help it, buddy. Lotrek did an awesome job on these! I will be honest and say that they look better than the original cards, because of the inconsistent colors and textures in the 1932 decks

Here are a couple more courts, but I will wait for him to post some of the observations and discoveries.

Art prints are available for US delivery on UCdecksales.com now, but only two: the back of the cards and the King of Clubs with the "hidden" 3/4 perspective of a woman.

Both can be ordered in 10" × 14" size or 13" × 19" size for $10 and $20 respectively. They are delivered like uncut sheets, rolled up in a 3" × 24" tube. Priority Mail 2 to 3-day delivery is $15 for up to five prints.

I'm surprised these are still available for sale. I'm not complaining as it gave me a chance to pick this up!

Simply breathtaking work by Lotrek (but no surprise there right?)

We expect to have the decks in a couple of weeks now. Probably in one pile after they do the gilding for half of them.

The projected delivery date is 10-November so I can figure that they will start going out sometime in the second half of the month.

Looking forward to it myself! I have been working on this project for nearly 3 years now.

I just posted an update on Kickstarter. Please read this and let me know if I got it right.

Lotrek is supervising a reprint of the defks. Details about the problem are in the update, along with new expectations. We're hoping to have the reprint in three weeks.

I didn't back this through KS and I could read it. Boy those are some real issues hopefully easily fixable. Nice details about card printing too.

Thanks, Rich. I wanted it to be informative and Lotrek made sure that we were technically accurate.

We know that you and lots of people backed it after the KS project, so we couldn't make it Backer Only.

The fix is easy, and we are kind of stumped that it happened, because the only thing that needs to happen is the correct application and order of inks are followed, CMYK followed by the metallic gold and then the varnish / sealant. There really shouldn't be any CMYK in the borders at all, and usually if you use a metallic it is the only thing on that part of the paper.

Finally, after a month of waiting for the reprint, the decks are done, gilded and being shipped to Lotrek in Greece.

During the reprint process, Cartamundi over printed 10% on the gilded decks. We have precisely 30 extra gilded decks. To be fair to backers, they will be available only at a premium. I have not published an update on Kickstarter, but will tomorrow.

Tomorrow is my birthday so I decided to give UC members a discount code good for one copy, one per customer, limited to the first ten uses.

The code is:

$10_Off_gilded

Through Saturday at midnight (EST / NYC time) you can buy one for $58 instead of the $75 we are going to be charging.

It's only good for the single gilded deck, which comes in a plain white windowed tuck box.

Again, one deck discount per customer, don't share outside the membership, expires midnight Saturday and limited to ten uses total.

Theu will be fulfilled around the first week of the new year - by me, not Lotrek.

The price goes up to $75 in two weeks, for now I dropped it $7 to include Priority Mail shipping. Sorry that I can't help more with overseas shipping. For now, the only notice about this is here.

Great news overall, I've been closely monitoring this thread for updates. Thanks!

However, what does this mean for the uncuts? Are they be shipped out early next year as well, or perhaps earlier/later?

Uncuts will arrive in Greece at the same time as the decks. Lotrek is already working on the tucks.

I don't know for sure, but I assume that you will be getting thrm along with the deck sets.

I know it was considered, and discussed, that the orange deck would also be gilded (using a cheaper technique). Was it decided that the orange deck would not be gilded at all?

The costs on these went crazy over budget, before they added a 21% Value Added Tax to the bill (which was never discussed before it was billed). We figured since they were made in Europe for delivery in Europe - they would not be taced, but apparently American logic on taxation doesn't work.

We are lucky the gold back decks were already gilded. The orange tone ones were meant to be used, so no gilding for them. We might have talked about it early on, but I don't remember ever thinking it would happen. Darned things are barely profitable at all after marking up printing more than 20%

Not a problem, Mike.

I haven't been following this restoration at every turn, so I just wanted to confirm that.

pablo19 wrote:When are we to expect these??? I thought they would be done before way ahead of schedule??
We had to have them reprinted due to a problem with the way the gold metallic ink was done in the first print run, and the second set arrived at Lotrek's studio in Athens about a week ago.

He is working on the hand-crafted dual tuck restoration and they should be shipping soon.

The delays were well documented in the previous two updates from Kickstarter, although if you bought them on UCdecksales I might not have kept everyone here 100% informed, although looking back at this thread, it seems that I caught things up a week behind both updates (#9 & #10, I think) from KS.

So all uncuts will ship from Greece? Was Lotrek signing those? Just seems odd they are sent there otherwise.
