Just heard from Steve. It'll be EPCC or USPC.

"HI Andrea, I'm in talks with both USPCC and EPCC. The reason being is that if the government decides to impose an import tariff then I'll be forced to go with USPCC. Hope that helps!"

Holy cow, I didn't see this coming. If Trump imposes that import tariff, this may be the end of EPCC/LPCC as we know it.

If anybody has an extra time machine to borrow, could you just drop me by to the day I will receive these? I'll pay you back in vodka. Thanks!

It may not just be the end of EPCC/LPCC but of many others as well.

I'm disappointed as well. Love these and will pledge but an actual hanafuda playable deck would have been great. I think a dual deck is possible if you use rank for month.

Both decks look great. When court cards are first shown, I want to see the King of Hearts.

These definitely are beautiful. One of Steve's best so far (IMO).
I was not expecting these to be usable Hanafuda cards. They were always advertised "in the style of".

This does lead me to my one complaint.
I wish he had gone with more of a "in the style of" for the court cards and less of the Japanese stereotypes.
In Hanafuda you don't often see direct images of people so boldly (I am not saying it doesn't happen It is just unusual) usually if a person is in the image they are captured amongst the scenery not the main focus of the cards. I would have liked to see more of this than just the Samurai, Warrior Princess, and abacus man.

Still they are rendered beautifully and this complaint is not stopping me from pledging for this project.

To use one of those sports metaphors
This project may not have gone out of the park but it certainly is a home run.

This deck never read to me as taken from Hana Fuda, he lists it as one of numerous inspirations from Japanes culture as a whole, and the word Hana just means flower, I don't think that this was supposed to be a Hana Fuda inspired deck so much as just a Japanese inspired deck, and with that theme for a deck of cards it would be impossible for Hana Fuda not to be one (of hundreds) inspiration, this deck never felt like it was connected to Hana Fuda for me in more than a cursory way, especially once I saw the rest of the deck

Stretch goal one reached at $25,000 and is seeing all cards printed with metallic inks! Pretty sweet for an already gorgeous deck

I'm a huge fan of Steve Minty's decks - see my pictorial review here.

I love the look of the HANA decks, pure class and elegance as always. Well done Steve!
