So Madison has released this first teaser for his new deck, Hellions. No other info given yet but this one picture.

So far it looks like some actual work was put into this

Well, that is a low bar..

It's clearly still his logo, but at least it's not just his logo. Don't know we can be too hopeful about much customisation in the faces...

... and the borders look reasonable :-). (Although it could just be a render...)

Waaaay better then any other Maddison back design from his past decks.
A very busy design but with lots of interessting elements. Also the line work looks good.
Def. keeping a eye on those!

I might be off the mark, but it feels to me like he's gone with the gatorback 'feel' and it wouldn't surprise me if it's designed by Stutzman.

Back design is a bit "busier" than what I would expect from Stutzman based on his usual work, and overall not getting a Stutzman vibe from it. My money would rather be on this being another Oban Jones design.
Yes, I might be the guy you remember from that thing at that place way back when.

I'm interested...but FULLY prepared to be disappointed and not purchase once I see it's standard courts (as I'm sure it will be) and the rest of custom elements can't justify the price.

And I'm out as expected. The back is too much of the unprocessed hand drawn look and mostly standard courts with a custom KoH of somebody probably of some importance, but meh. I should have known better to even think I may care. ;)

The backs are a bit too busy for me, but I think the jury may still be out on the courts, they still might be fully custom. What we see might be too small a sample size.

It's a long time since we heard of these...

But today Ellusionist released a (very long) trailer for these:

He is also talking about 3 different versions of this deck.....
Anyways, i like it so far and it is finally something different after all that rounders, dealers, hustlers, revolvers....
The idea with the jokers is brilliant for the theme of this deck. :D

This actually looks somewhat good. Nice box, great Jokers, good back.

I think that I will get this deck.

Somehow, I ended up on Mr. Madison's mailing list, and he sent out a note a day or two ago alluding to the fact that these would be released soon. His last couple posts have also alluded to him hanging up his shingle for a little while; the implication is that there might be some strife between him and Ellusionist, and reading between the lines, it *could* be that he's about to part ways with them. Of course, it's also possible that this is just some kind of oblique maneuver to get us interested in his next project *with* Ellusionist, but it doesn't quite seem that way.

Anyway, food for thought.

T11 will probably scoop him back up again. Either way it would be nice to see E finally come up with playing cards that don't revolve around him.
