NEW- HOPC Collectors Brick

Unread post by Evan »

HOPC NEWS: Collectors Brick Set!

"On 12/12/12 we will be releasing a very special item to celebrate HOPC's first year offering decks to the marketplace.

We have created 120 exclusive CUSTOM collector's sets that will be available starting at midnight eastern time on Wednesday, December 12th. Each of these limited brick boxes will contain a variety of 12 decks. Some bricks will contain a random sampling of the decks we've created throughout the year - including the very last supplies of some of our sold out decks.

A few lucky sets will contain one or more rare decks, such as Black Crowns, Gold Crowns, or even a Jerry's Nugget deck!

Here is what we are giving away in random boxes:
24 out of the 120 will contain a Black Crown Deck
24 out of the 120 will contain a Snow Owl Deck
12 out of the 120 will contain a Gold Crown deck
3 out of the 120 will contain a Jerry's Nugget Deck

Each collectible box is signed by Alex Pandrea and makes a perfect display piece for your collection. 2012 has been an amazing year, and as it draws to a close we look forward to a new beginning in 2013." - House of Playing Cards

Why do I expect every box to have 5 NOC decks and a Blue Crown deck?....
Now, if they had Heraldys, Verves, the Curator as well, I might be in.....
Any idea how much these will be?

No, we will not be loading these up with cheap decks. Each brick's contents will all probably be a little different, but we'll be putting in anything from NOC, Crown, Vaudeville, Americana, Mechanic, Ornate, Heraldry, etc.

They'll be priced so that even if someone does not get one with a limited deck inside, it will still be a good value. Of course, the few with the Jerry's deck will be a tremendous value!

Well, I wouldn't call the NOC "cheap" (let's say 'affordable') ... will there be a common 'core' of decks? And will you have a new $100 level bonus? (I'd like to get some Heraldy decks and this could be a good time to do it.)

I just did a rather larger order with HOPC... I think I'm going to pass on this one...

Though I wouldn't mind getting a Jerry's Nugget deck... though I can wait until Lee Asher does another sale in 2013... that'll give me time to save up too. :)

Good price... but I'm passing

If they gave you an exact list, that would have made it more appealing

The shipping is killing it for me. A couple and a brick of heraldry would easily fit in a flat rate.
And they're shipping Monday - hope they don't pull a T11. And there's no $100 bonus tier deck.
I'll just pick up a BG1E tomorrow (maybe).....night all!

Yeah. More than $20 to ship the brick within the US.
No thanks. :|

$34.95 with First Class mail to Germany.
Yes the shipping kills it as a deal for me.
With shipping included it sums up to a deck price of 5€ counting the free Bicycle Silver Rider Back into this.
Still not a bad deal and the quality of the Brick Box is marvelous (got one of the Ornate Brick Boxes and its top quality).
The reason why i´m not getting it :
1.possibility of extra custom taxes (19% extra on the total incl. shipping! = plus $16)
2.possibility of having 2 NOC/Blue Crown 2nd Edition decks in your box
3.I got every deck of HOPC (except the Americana Deck/red Verve)
4.The Jerrys Nuggets i dont really care that much

Each box will contain a very good value for the price - even the ones that don't have the rare decks. There will not be any duplicates in the box. IE, you might get a couple Crown or NOC decks, but you will not get 2 Blue ones, 2 Green ones, etc.

Supplies are running low - these will be gone pretty soon!

I'd love to get one, but as everyone has already stated, shipping kills it. For a brick of any other deck, shipping is $9.60. For one collectors box, the lowest shipping option is now 21.20. The $9.60 "standard" option jumps to $37.45.

Is there any reason for this?

Perhaps to compensate for the actual price of the brig!? It is well known we catches up on shipping  :!:

The price of the box is great and definitely a good deal, but the shipping price kills it! There is no reason for shipping to be $20 to the U.S.

Only because I'm not in the US...

so are you guys saying ..

If you just buy 12 decks from the site, the shipping is "X" amount.. but..

If you buy this brick... the shipping is WAY more??

Because that makes no sense at all

So I went to the site and used a Texas zip code.. 77477

I put 12 heraldry decks in my cart.. and the shipping rates were..

Standard 9.60
Express 22.25
Priority 15.45

I cleared my card.. and put the "special" brick in.. the shipping rates were

Standard 37.45
Express 44.45
Priority 18.55

Reylek.. can you explain this???????

Because this is BS.. It's the same amount of cards

sorry for the 3rd consecutive post..

Kevin wrote me

"Hey Jay. Please email info@houseofplayingcards.com and they'll get it sorted. Nothing we can do here on Facebook for that. Definitely a glitch that we'll get worked out"

So, I guess if you place an order.. make sure you take a screen shot of what 12 regular decks would cost you for shipping.

Hey guys. We've always made it clear that any questions/concerns should always be emailed directly to us. Any of you who have emailed in the past can hopefully attest to the fact that we will respond very quickly.

These pricing differences are probably due to the fact that a normal brick is viewed in the system as 12 separate items, where the Collector's box is one item. The weights are a little different as we usually send normal bricks broken up so they fit into an envelope. The Collector Bricks will be sent assembled in boxes. The shipping calculator is largely automated, so sometimes it can be a little inconsistent.

Again, you will always get the best info and quickest responses if you email us directly - info@houseofplayingcards.com Forums and Facebook are great for certain things, but direct contact is always best for order questions.

Sorry for the long post in advance...

So I did contact HOPC, and they were extremely fast in responding, so I appreciate that.

But most of the answers I got were fairly vague and not too helpful. They did say they would be more than happy to reimburse any extra shipping they charge, but fell way short of honoring the S&H of a different brick. Or even telling me what actual S&H would be. So screen capturing what 12 Curators ship for is probably pointless.

Keep in mind, standard S&H for the collector's brick is $37.45, USPS (for me) was $21.20.

When I questioned why on my last order (2 bricks) I was charged $15.35, I was told "the system actually under-charged you on the last order if it was sent boxed." But the large flat rate it was sent to me in DOES cost $15.35. So what was I not charged for? 2 sq-ft of bubble wrap?

They said "The final shipping cost should be somewhere between $15-20 but I will not have the exact figure until the warehouse actually ships a package." "If the lowest option you are being offered by the shipping calculator is over $21, odds are it is pretty close to the actual S&H costs, though is might be a couple of dollars too high."

Bottom line? I'm passing. I need to know what I'm paying for something. And I just thought I should let everyone know that while they will refund any excess, just because 12 decks ships standard for $9.60, that is probably NOT what you will be charged for this.

The funny thing is,they could have send the brickbox unassembled and in this way no need for a cardboard box around the decks/brickbox.
Would have saved a lot of problems and money for the national and international customer.
Even D&D are that smart! That´s how they send out their Variety Box.
