Chicken Nuggets (CNuggs) by Hanson Chien

Chicken Nuggets (imagined by Hanson Chien and designed by Limin & Eyes Kiki) are an homage to/spoof of JNuggs. Over a year in development, using the original colors of JNuggs (apparently provided by USPCC) and printed by Taiwan's Top Playing Card Printer (based in Taipei - my guess it is the same printer that LPCC & EPCC uses...feels a lot like other LPCC/EPCC decks, on the heavy side at around 120g or 4.25 ounces and a similar finish). According to the official Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ChickenNuggetCards" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" ;), they were supposed on KS in November, but that never happened and now they are already printed. Custom Courts with all extremely fat Royals feasting on all kinds of junk food and two identical jokers with the saying 'Complaints of Chicken Nuggets - Quit Junk Food, Make Life Good' and standard numbered cards/pips.

Through all my searching, I have only found the official FB page (limited information only, no ability to purchase) and one shop in China (with limited stock) that offers 3 options:
(1) Single Red Decks (standard deck, I assume)
(2) 4 pack in giant Red CNugg case - contains 3 Red decks and 1 Blue deck (limited deck)
(3) Brick modeled after a Chicken McNuggets box - contains 9 Red decks and 3 Blue decks

I have picked up a few decks if any one is interested...check out the STISO board. ;)

You on a roll Sherm, finding these decks in China. Does the front of the tuck look like the back?

I do find some nice ones every once and a while ;)

The backs are the same as the front...the back has the imitation seal on it

I can do custom back decks with standard numbers with custom courts like this deck but I don't like custom backs with standard numbers and courts.

I thought Kickstarter doesn't let you sell existing merchandise?

The previous ones were prototypes. He's running the Kickstarter to print new decks.

They sure didn't look like prototypes, and the quantities printed also suggest otherwise?

The decks I got were definitely a different print run, whether you want to call them prototypes or not...check out the AoS...it shows M 2015.

If you go to the KS preview for the CNuggs Kickstarter, Hanson shows the AoS with an M2016

I have to wonder if USPC will shut this down? Do they not own the trademark to that particular ace of spades?

Paul, LOL.

Pierre, I opened my deck from Sherman a couple of months ago (whenever that was... December/January?). And it's 2015.

So the failed Gluttony KS was a custom courts "copy" of this deck?

Should be ;) The picture of the AoS was from the deck I opened, which was from the decks I picked up last December and shared with the group...your decks were part of this batch :D

The only trademark would be for the name, Jerry's Nugget, and that would be owned by Jerry's Nugget Casino, not USPCC. The USPCC would likely have a copyright for the image of that Ace of Spades, which I believe was used on come other decks as well other than JNs. If he got permission or a license from the USPCC then he's obviously doesn't have to worry about anything. If he didn't, then the issue is going to be if this ever comes to the attention of the USPCC, and if they decide to do anything about it even if it does come to their attention.

The thing that interests me more is the printing factory he's using. Since its a printer located in Taiwan, I assumed its the same one that EPCC and LPCC uses. But in the comments section of his KS page, Hansom says he's actually not even familiar with any EPCC/LPCC decks and that his printing factory is different from the one used by EPCC/LPCC.

On the KS project page, Hanson states that USPCC provided him the color specs for the decks (they apparently provided him the original color chip...see the caption below the first pic under HIGHLIGHTS).

I too am surprised that Hanson isn't familiar with EPCC/LPCC decks, but maybe he is just saying that as that is part of the deal with the printer?

Anyways, I just opened up one of my blue decks out of curiosity and it also has M2015 on the AoS and the gaff card is a blank card, not the 52 cards on 1, like in the project. Wish there was an easier way to tell the different between the print runs.

Just noticed his timeline at the bottom of his project page. So he had print runs in 2015 to test out and this year looks like the official global release. I did send him a question to see how hard or easy it will be to tell the decks apart from last year and this year

If he answers, can you also ask him how many decks were printed of the test run. :D

Actually he said his production company (HCPC) is different than EPCC/LPCC, not that the printing factory is different than the one they use. I bet it's the same factory. Like Bomber Magic (BPCC) using the same printer as EPCC/LPCC but having their own card company.

I read the comments, and it seems like Chien is being vague about his printer. Maybe he doesn't want people to realize its just the same factory as the one EPCC and Legends uses, then it won't be so special. If it is the same factory as the one EPCC uses, then these cards won't feel like actual Jerry's Nugget cards. I really hate it when people claim their latest and greatest deck feel just like JNs and it just turns out to be bullshit. This campaign is going to go WAY over its goal, so I wish Chien would consider having USPC produce these decks instead.

My ace has 2015 on it and it's 5 additional cards in the deck.

I asked him through a Kickstarter message if his printer was the same factory that EPCC/LPCC use. His answer was "no."

I guess the stretch goal is really only a free black deck for those that ordered more than 12 deck and the ability to add the black deck (which I did of course)...I think the extra cards were already planned since they were in the first run...the red deck had a blue Chicken Nugget on the back of the guarantee and the blue deck has a black Chicken Nugget on the back of the guarantee.
