Play Fair: A beautifully solid color design for deck

Unread post by kei izumi »

Hello I'm Kei Izumi. I have been used ordinary Bicycle brand decks of cards (called Rider Back), but I'm a person who gets tired of things very fast.I soon discovered that the simpler the design of the cards, the longer I would use them.

So I had decided to make the deck of cards by myself. I started designing playing cards that I really want to use. That's called PLAY FAIR!!

Many legendary card magicians love this design and concept:

"Elegant design. Real looking casino cards. Simple but effective."
-Helder Guimaraes

"The elegance and simplicity of the design will highlight your routines and flourishes for some strong and visual magic"
-Boris Wild

"One of the best playing cards for magicians"
-Zeki Yoo

"One of the best designs ever seen, from a fantastic and creaive mind!"
-Jan Logemann

This is my first KS project and I'll answer all questions as soon as possible! Hope you like it and make this deck in real!

Thanks!
Kei

This deck won't be for everyone of course. It's too plain for me, others may say the back or tuck isn't much.

I have no clue why but people liked the Fontaine decks, these are similar. :?

I'm a sucker for a bold Red deck. So I'm definitely in on this. I like the deck.

Side note, this has one of the best uncut prices I've seen on Kickstarter ever. :)
TL:DR It's completely up to you.
We can still be friends.
I actually like playing cards.
We live in interesting times.

I'll say it again: Just buy some NOC's and a white sharpie and you'll save a lot of money ;)

But seriously, I know quite a few people like these types of designs so good luck with the project, Kei. And welcome to UC!

Unfortunately the deck is printed in Taiwan, not the States. Of course you can save money if I ship by sea mail but I can't guarantee you can receive the deck correctly. I decided I put the worldwide shipping fee in all pledges so that these look a little bit pricey.

And this is the Kickstarter project, not the same thing that you buy a deck of cards in the fav dealer nearby your home. Still I can't make money with this project. I hope it makes sense.

If it's printed in Taiwan then it should be cheaper than printing in the US. You haven't even told us the printer, why?

Based on the location and the uncut sheet (6 x 9), it might be the same factory used by EPCC and LPCC, but one can't be certain.

He's already explained why the deck is priced as it is. Everyone, regardless of where they are, will be paying the same price and part of the $15 you pay will be going into a sort of shipping pool so that everyone, regardless of where they are can purchase the deck without having to pay the exorbitant international shipping fees that everyone hates having to pay. The other option as far as I can tell from the info provided in the campaign info was to have people pay international shipping fees based on where they are and have their decked shipped via slow boat without any sort of tracking to keep the shipping prices low for those who might have had to pay it.

TL:DR
he's basically asking us to be good sports and help out our fellow card enthusiast by having everyone paying a little more so that regardless of where you live, you can purchase the deck and not have to pay a ton of money for shipping.

Make sense?

Anyways, I think it's actually a neat concept. Most campaigns you're responsible for paying your own shipping fee but here, he has everyone chipping in. Don't know if it will work or not. This deck probably won't get funded so we may never know if this was a good idea or not.

In any case, I have this deck starred for now. I like the simple design but don't love it. I like the tuck box though and it looks like it will come wrapped in some sort of paper.

I think a simplistic deck shows class. Kei's design may not really match does more intricate like the dominion, draconians, etc. which makes some fantastic fan designs but I think alone its really just cool to have at a playing table.
Personally I like that simplistic back, and what more if you're a good cheat at card games (imagine conducting moves like daniel madison) and your cards saying fair play. Leads to a good contradiction ;D

I'm supporting his campaign but hope he could revise the pip and courts to be slightly more customized for that price. May still be inline with his simple design but slightly different to make this deck different in a slight way would be good!

Well I know Legends offers international shipping but we don't even know who is printing these, they might be some no-name printer with terrible quality.

Please do not misunderstand. Play Fair is printed in Taiwan and I am really satisfied with the quality of playing cards. The quality is quite similar to Bees. Nice and smooth, but not too much.

The reason why I didn't mention on the name of manufacture is quite simple: For the manufacturer casinos are the main customer, not magicians. And they will not get any more low offers from magicians.

I was in for one of those cool card cases. The cards are basic but that case is very unique.

I have to agree with my esteemed colleagues above - it's a format tired a lot recently, and not one that appeals to me. BUT SBurk49 is right - those woodcases are very very nice indeed.

What are the chances of having that sweet wood case customized with a name or logo of our choosing?

There are v2's of this deck in Green, Blue and Black. Only reason to care: The first one was from a printer which to my knowledge hasn't been used in a custom deck after that. The quality in my mind was very nice, it had this funny rubbery feel. I am assuming these are from the same printer but that is just an assumption.
