Damn. If only these were poker sized and USPCC. I really like the design of these!
Re: "The Art of Playing Cards" deck - Live on Kickstarter
I like the pips, would like to see some numbered face cards to confirm how they look in a quantity. Huge mistake on the court cards, really loss me there.
The proposed second deck - The celtic pips are nice, the heart needs some work.

Re: Glaives Playing Cards - Live on Kickstarter
Did Kickstarter open it up to outside of the U.S. now, or just the U.S. and U.K.? I'm just curious.
As for this Deck - The PIPS are cool but hard to recognize as Club, Heart... right away for a card game. The Tuck Box is cool but I don't like the same pattern when it's centered on the Back Card. I think it looks better when it's peek-a-booing in from the sides. The Court symbols are just weird and the Indice Fonts aren't very readable.
I'm not sure why a Bridge Deck would need custom Poker Chips. I hope I didn't end up starting a trend where every Deck, especially on Kickstarter, has to have Poker Chips included!
thanks, Randy

Re: Glaives Playing Cards - Live on Kickstarter
Bridge size, non-USPCC and 4 corner indices are the things that put me off. Rectify those, and they'd sell a lot more.
Re: Glaives Playing Cards - Live on Kickstarter
Oh, these are lovely. I'm not married to USPCC, so I have no problem with going in on these. Not perfect, as people have pointed out with a couple of the minor issues, but I'll live, I'm sure.
Kickstarter's still just US/UK, I'm afraid.

I could not figure out why these looked so crowded... Thanks for pointing that out.MagikFingerz wrote:Bridge size, non-USPCC and 4 corner indices are the things that put me off. Rectify those, and they'd sell a lot more.
Re: Glaives Playing Cards - Live on Kickstarter
I'm not a fan of this at all...really miss the "face" cards.
Re: Glaives Playing Cards - Live on Kickstarter
I'm good for one deck... for the novelty factor.
Plus, the chips look great.

I, for one, am very intrigued by the design. I appreciate the progression of the suits through the court cards. I realize this will be hard to put into play, especially for the elderly (myself included), but the design is fantastic. I have just ordered a pair of decks. And by the way, I don't really give a fig about them not being USPCC. There are thousands of excellent non-USPCC decks out there.
Re: Glaives Playing Cards - Live on Kickstarter
Hello all,
I am the creator of this pack and totally new to these forums, but having looked around I wish I had found out about them sooner! I've only just got round to checking out this link as I've been busy with things on Kickstarter, but I would like to thank everyone for their comments and hopefully give you some feedback.
1. Not using USPCC - I've now settled on using a UK subsidiary of Cartamundi to print these cards. I don't know the ins and outs of all the manufacturers but if you are purely looking for a mark of quality then I believe this is a suitable European equivalent. Also, being British, I wanted to keep manufacturing inside the UK.
2. Size and pips - Ideally I wanted to release a 4 pip, bridge size pack and a 2 pip, poker size pack, however to do this I would have had to raise twice as many funds, so I had to make a decision. Although I play poker I have just always thought that bridge size proportions look better as well as being easier to use for whist based games. With regards to pips, although I am not left handed myself, along with most left handed people I tend to fan the cards backwards, so if there are only 2 pips they are only visible upside down at the bottom of the card. Essentially this was a personal choice which I also thought would open the deck to more people. I appreciate now that it seems most people prefer 2 pip poker cards and so in future I will try launching with this layout first.
3. Number cards and honour cards - I have recently updated my Kickstarter page to show the number cards, let me know what you think. With regards to the honour cards being harder to read, I understand this and it was a gamble I wanted to take. I personally don't see the point of using royal figures to depict card values (apart from tradition) and so I wanted to play with concepts not restricted by this common design rule. I understand that a lot of people may not like them, which is why I started with a relatively simple design change, but the aim of this project is to see if there are enough people interested to keep exploring more radical design changes and slowly create a totally new, but still intelligible, card design.
4. Poker chips - I admit that having chosen a bridge size pack, using poker chips as a promotional item is odd, however I wanted to offer something more than just standard uncut sheets, so the chips were designed more as a commemorative item. Having said that I was hoping more people would be interested in the poker set, but unfortunately due to the chip manufacturing process I cannot bring the price down to make it any more attractive.
Thanks again for taking the time to look/comment/pledge.
Callum.

Most Casinos use Bridge size playing cards for poker. Bridge size playing cards are what is used in The WSOP.
Thanks!

Re: Glaives Playing Cards - Live on Kickstarter
I know Cartamundi, the quality of thier cards are very poor since many years.
In France, this is the most known maker and distributor.
