Seasons Playing Cards: ~ Platinum Series ~

Unread post by CBJ »

Alex Chin gave me a little sneak peek at the new set of Seasons Playing Cards... Platinum Series.

Image

-these will have the same finish as the original set, and the same back designs
-5000 sets will be available
-this is a Seasons Exclusive. You won't be able to get the full set anywhere else.
-release date is still TBA, but most likely this month

Alex writes
"This is our platinum version.

I got to say when you hold these decks in person they just blow you away. Very happy with how the new foiling came out."

More pics/info to come soon

So the only difference is the box?

I LOVE the Seasons decks. They are one of my favorite decks out there, so I'm definitely looking forward to these.

Oh damn! I'm really looking forward to these. I couldn't get nearly enough of the original Seasons decks the first time around. I remember Alex saying that he planned to do another run of the Seasons decks that weren't so limited in number so more people could get them. The cards themselves would be the same, but the tuck box would have a little less bling so that the cost would be more affordable as well. I wonder if these are it. The Platinum Series title kind of makes me doubt its the more affordable version, though......

He did sell Seasons factory seconds on his site for a while.

Great interview, Max, you got us the info we were really waiting on - what the differences are between the first and second releases. Basically, it seems the cards are identical (except for the new gaffs) and the box is even more blinged up than before, but the second series is not as rare since they will be printed in quantities twice as much as the original run. I love how Alex Chin says he wouldn't label a 5000 set run as a "limited edition". Suck on that, T11, Dan & Dave, and Blue Crown!

I also loved Alex's response to the question about the glut of custom deck designers out there now. He said, "the easiest indicator of effort is usually to see if they have custom court cards." Amen, preach it, brotha! Take that, too, T11!

Just picked up a brick, don't forget to use the coupon code SEASONS10 to get 10% off! I wonder if this Platinum edition will lower the value of the original edition much?

They only offer 1 shipping price for international orders $19.50 for 1-16 decks.
I only need 2 sets since i got plenty of the original Seasons Set.
What a bummer! Even ordering just a card clip (which are beauties!) Its $19.50 shipping.
Dont rape your international customers on the shipping!
You would sell more and make even more profit by not making a dime on shipping.
The $19.50 is justified for the 16decks of course, but for 2-4 decks?????
And ordering 16 decks is the only reasonable pricing (when shipping is applied + coupon code)

This makes me sad really.I would have ordered a uncut,a clip and 2 sets but $54 shipping...you can fit the decks and clip all together
In the tube for the uncut send out for $34!

My hope is now that BMPoker will carry those babies

Yeah, I was just wanting a pair of decks but having to pay double the price just to get them to Canada is pretty rough. (I did it anyway... impulse shopping?). I know there's shipping considerations but that's a bit much.

I always feel bad for the international card collectors out there because you get raped on shipping. Having said that, I don't think its the retailer's fault because international shipping is so much more expensive and it's not economically efficient to make small orders because of that.

I think all you Canadians should get together and coordinate your orders so you guys only have to place one big order to save on shipping. Maybe CBJ can form an organization called the Canadian Card Collectors and then CCC can contact all the card producers and negotiate a preferential international shipping rate for the big order CCC will place on behalf of all its members. If you guys organize like that and have the power of numbers behind you, I'm sure the card producers will be willing to deal.

The issue is...

Canada post has INSANE rates between provinces in Canada. It would only work if we were all in the same area.
Example, I live near 4 other cards collectors... sometimes we get together and make purchases

But for me to ship a deck or 2 from Toronto to British Columbia wouldn't be worth it at all

... and "CCC" is already taken lol

Yeah, unfortunately high shipping is something you just have to get used to when shipping most things to Canada-- it's why I try not to complain too much in general. And living in Winnipeg doesn't help at all for getting in on things like splitting shipping, either. I just thought it was worth mentioning because shipping these decks is awfully high even considering that. But they are so very very pretty, I just couldn't resist. I may have a problem. :v

lol Canadian Card Collectors/CCC was just something I made up on the spot to use as an example and I forgot Circle City Cards went by that. I wasn't trying to step on other people's toes by stealing acronyms! I didn't realize the rates between provinces were so high, I just assumed it was similar to shipping between states here in America, that's a shame. I guess this concept wouldn't work among the European countries, either.......
