Exactly, these are some fake Marvel comics wannabe character cards!

Otherwise known as the "Super Hero Clipart meets BBM" deck.

Someone needs to tell these KS 'designers' that the community was over skulls in 2011.... With each new KS deck (with some exceptions) I think we've hit the bottom of the barrel, but keep being proven wrong.

I agree that this deck has numerous problems...
But to rate this at the bottom of the barrel is rather unfair.
This designer at least has artistic skill and has put some thought into the design. Words on the front and skulls on the back may not be what collectors want to see. But designers have been persuaded in the past to change up their design on the advice of collectors.

It would seem, as of late, that if you want to stand out from the crowd you should create a deck that is NOT the comic-booky, illustrated, full color thing. There are waaaaay too many of those all of a sudden. Market Saturation FTW!

I admire the skill of an illustrator but really don't feel that playing cards are meant to be pseudo-comic-books or "tell a story." I guess I just have a very different perspective from most of the creators of these KS projects. If I had that talent to illustrate, I'd use KS to fund a book or poster series...

I second that! It's gotten so bad, I expect to see comic-style illustrations whenever a thread comes up for a new Kickstarter Deck. I think the Call of Cthulu Deck started this trend. I'm guessing a lot of young artists watched their live drawing sessions and got inspired. My problem with the style is it doesn't seem serious enough for a deck of playing cards. The style seems better suited for a board game or even a role-playing card game.

thanks, Randy

Hey, thanks for posting my deck here. I appreciate all the comments, although I feel some are a bit harsh, but that's okay, as this deck was not designed for you. But those that are interested and after discussing with my backers; I changed the cards up a bit. Feel free to check them out and let me know what you think. :)

Hey, don't worry. I also appreciate your arts. I am just a fan of nice backs. I think you fell a bit short in that department. We are a bit more critical than your average person as we are card nerds. Good luck with your project.
