Thank you for letting us know your thoughts! No apologizes is need! We appreciated your feedback.
What is the back design supposed to be?
There is a story behind this playing cards and yes we will share the story during the campaign. We will present them in Kickstarter where their presentation platform is really good.
Are Apollo and Artemis the Jokers?
Yes! Apollo and Artemis are the jokers meanwhile they are part of court cards too! Curious about it? The full story will be shared during the campaign!
It's 2018 too so why not change the date?
That is really good questions. Although we initially thoughts to revise the years however we stick back to 2017. Reason being is, Olympians playing cards was voted as our signature among our achieve in 2017.
Who will be printing these?
If they are ULTRA LIMITED why have a Kickstarter when anyone can pledge for a deck unless the cost per deck will be so high and you print a small amount.
This is a very interesting question and I definitely need to give you a clear and reasonable answer. With our current relationship with Murphy's Magic Supplies, we can easily get our decks to be produced and distributed by them. No need to go with Kickstarter. And yes, we have two playing cards Multiverse and Blood Amber which were produced by USPCC and will be released in early March and April with Murphy's Magic. These playing cards no need involve Kickstarter.
Why Olympians was voted as our signature series among our achieve in 2017 is because of the art and the story. Every drawing and design has it meaning. It has a VERY INTERESTING STORY. For us it more than a deck. A true masterpiece. To be honest, as many people know the cost per deck itself is not expensive. It roughly the same no matter which printer would be. However, what makes us need to go with Kickstarter is quantity. With the strong competition among the printer, the minimum order quantity of the deck itself was reduced to 1000. Here, we don't have the big issue. What makes us struggling is the box manufacturing and the artbook.
-To optimize the elegant of the box, we decided to proceed with Curious Metallics Chocolate. If you are not in the printing industries, you hard to imagine how special this paper is. This paper is ONE OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY however, the difficulty and failure rate to print with this paper is really high. E.g. by printing 1500 unit, the printer needs to print 2500 unit as during the productions there will have many failure products. This is also one of the reasons why so many manufacturers refuse to print with this paper. With god blessing, we found a manufacturer in Malaysia where they can do it. However, it is so expensive as if we want to print 2500 unit, they have to charge us 4000 unit fee.
Following by the tuck case design. The tuck case is not standard tuck case. It is FULLY CUSTOMIZED. The tuck case layout is originally from the mind of Austin Ho. His full time is working as printing specialist. With his rich experiences, he successfully developed a unique tuck case. With such unique layout, a mold is required. This will increase the cost of production dramatically.
-The decks will be printed by USPCC and the tuck case will be printed in Malaysia. Therefore, we need to import the decks from the USA then repack them then only can shipping back. This will increase the cost per deck.
-Above is not critical enough. We will publish Olympians artwork in HARDCOVER! The artworks are the original design and it is different with the playing cards. In the artbook, Austin shares the story behind the court cards and the ace. Printing book is different with playing cards. We have no idea what the demand is. The production fee for the book is really expensive, especially it is hardcover and even the papers in the artwork book are metallic paper! It is not only expensive but also there is minimum order quantity need to fulfill. Although it is so expensive, however, we still wish every pledger will get themselves an artbook, therefore we will reduce the hardcover artbook price where it will be affordable for everyone. It is really good! Here I had attached an image where you will have some idea what kind of artwork we will including. With the crowdfunding from you all, we can get offset the expenses from either party. To be an example, if the artbook doesn't have much demand we can use the profits from the decks to cover the productions for the artbook.
After long explanations, I hope you will have an idea what we are doing. What I can say is, we will share everything on Kickstarter. We hope you all will enjoy them and support us! We hope Olympians Playing Cards will deserve a place in your heart! Once again, Thank You!
Feel free to ask if you have any questions. I will try my best to reply asap.
