Correspondances (Grimaud)

Unread post by Räpylätassu »

Correspondances is among my favorite Grimaud decks. The deck was printed in 1985 and designed by Laurence Caiazzo. Each card represent a diferent subway station in Paris, or to be precise each card represents aspects of Parisian lifestyle served in the portion of the city by that station. This deck is overall great design.

This deck exists as at least in Red and Blue color. I currently have the blue colored one unopened, which I will donate as one of the deck in a mixed brick as a prize in the Decks of the year 2017 contest, unless someone wants to aquire it from me via trade before that. This deck also comes with a pamphlet that has a bunch of text in French about each card.

I found this deck being sold HERE on this random European card site for only 12 € per deck! Correspondances is one of the best designed old Grimauds there are and usually not that easy to come by, one listing on ebay currently, over 50 USD for an opened deck.

I quickly glanced some decks that this site sells but really no other treasures for sale, just pages after pages of shitty tourist decks. Correspondances being a bright spot! Well I just noticed they do have the Pre-Columbian America by Fournier for 15 € per deck which another really nice deck LINK TO THAT ONE

I will update the original post with more pictures of my opened Correspondances shortly.

I am not sure if anyone got any before me. However, I tried to get two of the Correspondances decks, but could only get one, so I am afraid they are sold out. I also got one of the Pre-Columbian America. but I think there are more of those still available. Thanks Roope.

My deck just arrived. It is the blue deck. It looks to be in unused condition, but no wrapper on it. Looks great. Thanks Roope for the tip on this one.

I just got my deck today! Mine is the blue deck as well. The tuck is not wrapped in cellophane but the cards inside the tuck are. Thanks Roope for posting this find!

Old Grimauds don't have cellophane on the outside but if the deck is unopened the cards inside are in cellophane.

No large risk in opening this deck. Unopened decks are not always available but they do pop up on a occasion. Keeping eyes open for French sellers is the best bet - and almost always the best price too.
