Dear friends of UC,

I wanted to share with you the imminent release of what will be the last Rider Back deck of the Texture Series and maybe the last custom Rider Back in the history of the USPCC.

I have looked for a thread about it but I have not found it (I have not been able to access the contents of the forum for a while), but I suppose you are aware of the new USPCC's policy and the changes that affect "sacred" icons like Rider Back and that will be applied from 2018. I was informed of these changes barely a week ago and the launch that was scheduled for January or February next year has been rash and will be in a few days (perhaps hours). I had the artwork approved several months ago but I was trying to find a good moment in my life to launch it...

Working with the USPCC and with rider backs has always been very complicated. This change has been a blow for the series that had foreseen at least three or four more decks, but it is a new and important challenge in the vision of the series that I hope will not die with this new policy of the USPCC.

I really hope you enjoy the designs and I will go on informing you as always about the progress of this and future decks.

Well, it is basically they won't allow any single change (excepting re-coloration) of the rider back. They already have several restrictions about the Rider Back. In fact, they didn't allow me to hide a small part of the back in a joker with a cloth pin I draw. But till now I was able to get the approval of the backs (I have always respected and treated it in the very best way).

I am glad you are going to be able to get this one added at least. I am on board. I hope the folks at USPCC reconsider this. I do agree that they need to protect their brand, but there are some really good artists that can add to their brand, rather than detract from it.

Well, that's a possibility but I need to think calmly what I do want to do in the future. Rider back has a deep emotional meaning for me.

There are other options like mandolin back or even create my own back... Need to think but the most important now is to get this deck funded. In fact I designed a second version (it was going to be a very special campaign) as a stretch goal but unlocking it won't be easy as CPC wants this time to cover all the expenditures with the funds and avoid any extra cost after the campaign.

My fingers are crossed. I know it is not easy but I will try to do as much as I can to see this deck funded....

I will post here some images of the limited deck I designed. It would need a funding goal of almost 30K so I'm not sure if it will happen but I do want to share it with you too....

I am in as a backer now. I have enjoyed this series since the wood texture. Happily, I just managed to complete the series by picking up a red metal deck, which are not often seen in the secondary market.

No, Ice wasn't one of my options. But there were a few yet in my mind. Paper would be one of the most imminent. Let's see what happens with this...

Backed ! Nobrainer for me, i want to have a complete collection of your texture series, which i really enjoy. These series are probably the best customized Rider Backs i can think of, along with the 1800 Vintage Series from Ellusionist.
I don't understand that decision by USPCC, but we have to respect it.

I'm sad to hear this will be the last modified rider back in this series, and this also concerns other creators/companies who made some nice Rider Back modifications in the last few years. The end of an era !

Yes, they were quite restrictive yet. Everything regarding Rider Back had to be carefully touched as they usually rejected anything that considered changing it. I have tried to texture the rider back from a deep respect as I sincerely like it and wouldn't change it at all. In fact, I wanted to make it eternal engraving it on noble materials. I agree, it is a pity. I will go on creating textured decks as I simply love it. Not sure which texture, what back or who will print it.

The beginning hasn't been as good as expected but I need to try as it is the last chance to print it as it is.

I wonder if they will let you Customize the front and sides and leave the back alone. That is not idea, but maybe an option if they will allow it. If they really limit the customization of the tuck, it is going to really kill the Bicycle brand going forward in my opinion.

Yes, I think that won't be a problem. If I would decide to go on printing with USPCC and creating Texture Series decks, I would choose another of their "allowed" backs (Maiden or Mandolin) or I would create a custom one (that will give me the possibility to print in any other company).

Rider Back gave sense to the Series as I planned from the beginning to make something to be combined with the Standard Bicycle decks. If that's not the case, I have other options.

I wonder (and I would love) if people would like the decks and the artwork even not being a Rider Back.

I know that if you continued the series with Mandolin or Maiden backs, I'd still back them. If you go with a completely new back, it would depend upon the back, naturally, but you've shown good taste so far.

I have to admit the project won't probably fund so I have decided to share with you the designs of the Black Edition I planned to launch with the "white" one. As far as the project should have raised much more to unlock this deck, I didn't want to bury it without showing you the result. It was supposed to be the limited deck of the Marble campaign with the lowest print-run in the history of the Texture Series.

I like it Max. I have enjoyed your Texture Series. I didn't think that Sylvia's Avalon kickstarter would fund, but it came through at the last minute. I hope yours picks up some late steam also. I am in for three decks!

EDIT: Nevermind, I am in for six decks. I think part of the problem is that we have so many custom deck kickstarter campaings going on. I have a ton that just finished and have 12 active paying card kickstarter campaigns I am participating in right now. An $18k goal can be tough, but I know you have minimum production issues with USPCC.

Damn shame these haven't funded yet. I'll beef up my pledge but it's stuff that don't look good as these that are funded.

I like the black marble deck better. Why not try to release that one next time or maybe you can't because of the new Bicycle rider back rules.

Damn Max that black deck is nice. It's a crime this current project doesn't look like it'll fund. USPCC's new Rider back rule is stupid in my opinion.

Yes, it is a pity. I feel a bit frustrated specially because it is completely out of my control (in many ways) as I am not even handling the campaign. I have tried to do whatever is in my hand, including spamming all the backers of the previous projects.

Due to the new rules, I won't be able to print the black one either. CPC told me I would need around 30K to unlock that deck and having in mind we won't probably raise to the funding goal of 18K, I am sure it won't happen.

Anyway, whatever happens, I will be back with my texture series and I will try again with the marble decks. I do love these designs and perhaps they will do better in another moment (with another back I am afraid).

I will appreciate anyway that you share the campaign and spread the voice about it. Miracles can happen

Well, my dear friends.. it couldn't be.

Unfortunately we didn't reach the funding goal and the Marble deck won't be real (at least with the Rider back).

I am trying to pick up all the ideas from the backers to think about a potential relaunch in the future (I need to rest a little bit but I will study all the options). Changing the background of the grey deck is something I am deeply considering, but there are many others things to decide.
