Re: Bicycle LE Human Evolution Playing Cards: Live on KS
This is one of those decks where I'm not particularly in love with it, and I don't see pulling this out very often for one of the nightly card games my kids and I play, but I think it could still find a place in my collection if the price were right. The price turns out to be higher than my interest level, however. Like, by a long shot. There are other decks by CPC that I truly have loved the design that were also available for a much lower price tag.
I'm assuming that the price tag in this case is as high as it is because the design/artwork required more than the average amount of effort to complete. That said, it just doesn't sing to me enough, even so.
I'm glad CPC continues to try new things, and I hope they continue to take creative risks, even though this one didn't hit the mark for me.

CPC's first try was $12 a deck. Now they farm it out to another creator, make it Limited, and charge $18? They can keep it. Similar thing with the failed 4 Seasons decks. $11 each, all 4 for $44 I believe. It failed so make them Limited and charge $14. If they do offer all 4 decks on the last Season, Summer(?), I bet they'll cost $56 or so.rousselle wrote:I'm assuming that the price tag in this case is as high as it is because the design/artwork required more than the average amount of effort to complete. Move on, nothing to see here.

Re: Bicycle LE Human Evolution Playing Cards: Live on KS
I think CPC is forgetting a useful, if not the MOST useful, feature of KS- testing the market. If the project doesn't fund then the people are speaking with their wallets. Sometimes a few tweaks are needed to make the project better but it's never a good sign. Unfortunately this is also true for good decks (unlike this one) such as the Wild West playing cards and Brew House projects. Hope we see those again sometime soon..RichK wrote:CPC's first try was $12 a deck. Now they farm it out to another creator, make it Limited, and charge $18? They can keep it. Re: Bicycle LE Human Evolution Playing Cards: Live on KS
There are some decks I am willing to shell out $18 and more, but that is a very select group of creators or you are talking about gilded decks and such. I do like that they tried the moving aspect to the deck as you manipulate the deck, but that just doesn't do that much for me. Certainly not enough for me to pay a huge premium to aquire. I will sit this one out, but will be interested to see how it does.
Which reminded me to check on the Three Stooges Deck. It has three days to go and a little over $11,000 pledged with a $55,000 goal. That was just a huge goal amount for most card decks to get on Kickstarter.

This is one of the ugliest things I've seen in my entire freaking life.

According to the evolution theory, only the strongest survive. It's time to this project to go extinct.

I must be becoming a playing card snob. Meh! I will wait and throw my money at Lorenzo.
