Don't think I've seen this posted here yet. Alex Chin is again doing a NPCCD deck and again proceeds go towards Portfolio52. 2017 NPCCD Deck Release this October 17th at 12:00am CST. So far just the usual super close up tease photos, but I'm sure after 52+J this weekend more images will be out.
https://nationalcardcollectionday.com/shop-1/

Alarm set! Hopefully a good price point but a good cause nonetheless.

Was the Apothecary deck the 1st deck right? I wasn't feeling it but looking forward this one.

Nope the NPCCD deck is its own deck. Here's the thread from the last one. Came in 2 colors with the pink deck limited to 100Bikefanatic wrote:Was the Apothecary deck the 1st deck right? I wasn't feeling it but looking forward this one.

Is it released at 12:00am or 12:00pm? And we're still in CDT until November 5, when it flips back to CST.

Thanks. It still looks similar since it's Alex's work. I don't need to have every year's deck (unless it's Unitedcardists) so I think this will turn out good.badpete69 wrote:Nope the NPCCD deck is its own deck. Here's the thread from the last one. Re: 2017 NPCCD Deck Release October 17th (Alex Chin/Seasons)
National Playing Card Collection Day is tomorrow and so is the deck release! It'll go live at midnight. I hope you guys enjoy the holiday and share your card collection pictures with everyone online! It's fun showing off to others outside the card world that these hobbies exist
There are 2 different editions. 499 Pearl sleeves and 499 Black sleeves. Boxes are fully engraved on pearlescent stock, hand assembled and individually numbered out of 499. Black sleeve decks are hand gilded in gold.
I noticed at the convention I did need to clarify the Pearl sleeves a bit so here's hopefully a very clear explanation of the cards.
There are 499 pearl sleeve editions total. That's it.
Within the 499 pearl sleeves there are 5 different possible colors you could get. It is essentially a mystery deck but with color.
This way it avoids the "I'm-stuck-with-this-deck-I-already-have" kind of thing but rather a guaranteed new deck you can get with a fun mystery to which color it might be. Some colors are more rare than others but at the end of the day even the most "common" color is only 140 units which is still pretty amazing.
If you do buy more than one I'll do my absolute best to ensure you don't get repeating colors. Sometimes this will not be available if one color is sold out.
For the first 48 hours if you buy 2 pearl decks, I'll upgrade your second deck for free to the black gilded. I'll do my absolute best to ensure you'll get the lowest number matching numbered set.
Sales of these decks do go towards a good cause!
100% of the profits of these decks go towards keeping Portfolio52 free and helping upgrade it. Ideally this year we'd be getting a better search engine and a gamification point system in place to help people strive for higher quality control on the website.

Midnight what time zone so I can set my alarm and wake up my house? That is just so they all know how insanely crazy I am. I will probably get committed the next day, but I will be happy. I don't see a problem.

So if I buy 10 pearl decks, 5 of them will be upgraded to black? Or just 1 upgrade per order (or per person)?

@Bradius, There's actually a countdown timer on the footer of the website: https://nationalcardcollectionday.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I put to make it easier for people but basically it's midnight tonight CST.
This deal is only available for the first 48 hours to thank all the super awesome people that gave early donations.
-Alex
Yes the colors would all be different and half would be upgraded to black with matching numbers. I'll also do my best to keep them consecutive but by default I'll be giving you the lowest possible set numbers first.4.of.Clubs wrote:So if I buy 10 pearl decks, 5 of them will be upgraded to black? Luckily, I was able to see these decks this weekend and the artwork is beautiful. Alex never fails to amaze with his work.

Re: 2017 NPCCD Deck Release October 17th (Alex Chin/Seasons)
Buyer #66. Sometimes it pays to works nights . Normally, $35 a deck is way out of my price range. I decided to go for it this year for a couple of reasons:
I regretted not buying last year's deck because I really wanted to support Portfolio 52. It's an amazing resource and I want to do what I can to insure it's continued existence.
USPCC printing. The more I handle decks printed elsewhere, the closer I'm getting to collecting USPCC decks exclusively.
$35 is actually cheaper than the $40 of last year, unless you are including shipping. Either way, the price didn't go up which is pretty amazing these days.
The tuck really is gorgeous and will really stand out on my shelves. I'm also a sucker for black cards.
The limited edition is fun although it's not that important to me. I would have bought the deck whether he made 100 or 1000 as long as it was something I liked and could afford. I'm sorry, I can't pay $90 for a deck unless it's made of gold and makes coffee in the morning.
I've filed for bankruptcy before and I can do it again.
Thanks to Alex for making a beautiful deck at a reasonable price for a good cause.

Re: 2017 NPCCD Deck Release October 17th (Alex Chin/Seasons)
Hey guys,
Really glad people are loving the decks so much! For those of you still looking to order I just wanted to point out that there are 3 different options. The pearl, gilded, and pair. If you're looking for the gilding upgrade you'll want to pick the pair labeled 'Collector Level' which is only available until end of day tomorrow. I updated the description to specify but I still had a few people e-mail worried about messing up their order and requesting me to change it for them. It's not a problem to fix but it does affect the inventory counts a bit that I have to manually change everytime someone does mix it up. So to help save you guys any confusion I wanted to just point that out for you guys

2. Get a couple of gorgeous, limited edition decks designed by Alex and printed by USPCC
Easy YES!

At some point, can you let us know the number of each of the Pearl versions that were issued? I got that the largest number was 140, but not sure which one or what the lowest count is going to be. I got up early and was backer 21. I guess I spent too long filling out the order form because I was jumping on it right away.

Re: 2017 NPCCD Deck Release October 17th (Alex Chin/Seasons)
Hi, there.
Alex, I tried to PM you, but it appears you haven't read the message yet. What's the best way to reach you? I bought a few pair of decks with the intention of getting that deal of one pearl / one black per pair, but I apparently ordered incorrectly (I didn't scroll down far enough to see that there was a "Collector's Pair" option, and I assumed that by ordering an even number of decks, this would happen automatically.) How do I convert my order from 6 individual decks to the three pair?
I'm more interested in getting the six different colors than in matching serial numbers, if that makes your parsing out what decks to give to whom easier.
Thanks!

Re: 2017 NPCCD Deck Release October 17th (Alex Chin/Seasons)
Honestly the best bet is just e-mail since it's one place I can manage all incoming inquiries. It's hard to check all the resource inboxes out there (Facebook/Instagram/Forums/etc) consistently so for me personally e-mail is best. I have all the different ones forward to one inbox.rousselle wrote: What's the best way to reach you?

Thanks!
I messaged you about your personal order details.
Regarding the launch it was great support! Most of them will ship out this weekend once I finish packing them and figuring things out. (This one is particularly attentive given that specific color distribution is in play). The rest of them should end up sending out next week.
Both single pearl and Collector Levels sold out at launch. There are a few of the gilded left for those who haven't gotten to it yet if you're interested.
