Saw this deck on ebay again and decided to buy it this time, although I don't like the back design at all, the courts are quite cool. I'll let you know what I think of it once it arrives, here's some pictures I took from the ebay page:

And I am sure Jase knows something more about this...? All I know it's Viking themed, Russian and printed in 2013.

Räp, I think you and I have the same taste in decks... I ordered this one a couple weeks ago, just waiting for it to arrive from Russia. You'll have to let me know what you think if yours gets to you before mine does.

I have quite a few Russian decks. The work of Vladislav erko among them. And although the artwork is usually top notch. Erko is near the top of my top ten list of designers/artists for sure. The quality of the printed cards is typically very substandard. Thick stock. Rough edges. Poor registration. Paper feel.

@TheGentlemanWake,
Vladislav Erko is not Russian but Ukrainian artist. He have designed deck for russian restaurant. Also he have made design of another deck for Ukrainan company that produce alcohol. He is really talented artist. He have made tons of illustrations for Ukrainian (and not only Ukrainian) children books. Check here http://ababahalamaha.com.ua/uk/%D0%84%D ... 0%B0%D0%B2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

P.S.: (there are less Vladislav's works on official website if to turn EN version instead of UA)

We are working on this))) I mean it is in our plans to work with Vladilav, but as I said, it is almost impossible to reach him. And company where he works do not want to give his contacts.

Right now we have request from another artist that work in similar style to Vladislav's. I think that in near future we will print very nice deck))) Maybe it will even go to KS. Right now we need to settle some key points with designer and design owner.

Okay so, I picked up my deck from my local post office today. First of all, this deck is as thick as Lotrek's Grotesk Macabre Black Gold decks. And those are thick and stiff decks right? So stiff that they are quite hard, but not impossible, to spring. This deck is so stiff that you can't spring it as it literally doesn't bend even a half a centimeter.

It is an Russian deck as far as we know, but there in no mention of the printer anywhere in the deck. I thought that this would be printed by NageCards, but the cards are so incredibly thick and stiff and not flimsy like NageCards decks, that I don't think that that is likely. They don't fan at all on my one handed fans, but I don't really care about that as I wasn't expecting much of the quality to begin with.

The artwork looks great and the colors on the courts contrast nicely to the darkness of the deck. I'll try to take scans today and add it to the Portfolio52.

I am happy that I bought this deck, simply because of the great court cards and Jokers.

Added to Portfolio52. I searched around and I have no idea where I pulled that printing year of 2013, I found no information on it that could confirm or disconfirm it.

Here are the rather poor scans I took with my phone:

Meanwhile I'm still over here waiting for my cards that supposedly shipped on February 24... what are they doing with them in customs? Am I on a DHS watchlist or something...? :?

Thanks for the pictures and review, Räp. Since the pics on the eBay listing are obviously renders I was a little worried the cards either didn't exist or were some kind of print-on-demand thing. I'll just... keep waiting for mine... forever.... [MURRAY]

Deck finally arrived this morning, after over a month in transit. Räp, I don't know if you got a different printing than me, and I know the Etsy listing claims these are "made of Casino Classic cardboard," but I'm as sure as I can be, short of bending one in half to prove it, that these are actually plastic. If so, they're the thickest, least springy Western-style plastic cards I have by far; my Nintendos feel positively flimsy by comparison. I had some calipers handy so I did a comparison:
UC-ragnarok-mm.jpg
UC-ragnarok-mm.jpg (178.09 KiB) Viewed 2311 times
From left: Ragnarok, Nintendo 812, Kikkerland Red, Nishiki, Chocobo, Battle of Muscles.

These are about 0.10mm thicker than the Nintendos and Kikkerlands, and still a good 0.07mm thicker than your average USPCC card. And Räp's right: they don't bend, so don't go trying anything fancy with them. That said, if they are indeed plastic the nuance in the colors is head and shoulders above anything I've ever seen with plastic cards before. They're really quite beautiful. Highly recommended for the collector/non-cardistry crowd, provided you don't mind the very understated back design.

I don't think that these are plastic, they however are plastic coated. All my plastic decks are incredibly easy to bend and spring, these literally don't bend.

These are for sale on etsy!! LINK. Price is only 7,86 € per deck but the shipping is from Russia, meaning at least to Finland shipping isn't crazy expensive but pricier than the deck itself, although the deck is super cheap in this case.

Also on Varvar's website for 500 rubles. However everything is in cyrillc so I have no idea if they ship outside of Russia and for what price.

Yep, the prize is about the same as it was before. Most likely a psychological thing, people do not want to pay for shipping. More expensive item with free shipping resulting in the same price sells better.
