Looks great, and for some reason the pic Jack$on posted of his new project, Oculus, was removed after you posted up the release time for this project. Odd how that worked out, huh. ;)

Seriously though, looks great and best of luck on the launch.

I hope the stretch goals are reached. That tuck is just screaming for embossing. Either way, I will be there tomorrow!

This has been an interesting deck for me. My first reaction was "meh". I am not too wild on this type of design, and more of a classic or elaborate design deck. However, as I look at it more, I see a lot subtle features of the deck. There is a lot understated here. I am way over-committed on decks right now with Vanda taking a ton out of me for his new series. I may have to do without some lunches so I can afford a deck or two..stop making new decks. Give a poor guy a break here.

Congratulations on funding!
Very happy to be on board for 1 deck - can't do cardistry to save myself, though I really like how the back has an almost 3D animated feel and I can't wait to see the printed cards!

Reading Randy's [earlier] post about choice of printer and comparing notes/experiences having used both USPCC vs EPCC/LPCC (and others), I feel nothing but admiration :) Creating a deck of cards is a labour of love (blood. sweat and tears) and selecting a printer to bring that deck to life can literally make or break a dream.

As a (more novice) deck creator, my choice of printer is driven in part by the invaluable advice from communities like this one - and by research, communication and a desire to be nightmare free :) ... and while all the major printers (and several of the lesser known ones too) produce exquisite decks, I think LPCC / EPCC / Hanson is an excellent choice (in addition to that they are super friendly and helpful people):
... And, most importantly, there are NO worries about trim registration for Full Bleed or Thin Border designs (which was also a major reason we chose Hanson over USPCC). Poor trim registration is always a known problem with USPCC.
Congratulations again! :)

Being away this week, I missed out on the EBs. But this one is a no-brainer must-back, so I am most definitely in!

Backed this myself.

Yes a lot of the details are understated, especially the geometric designs in the background.

For the design and price, you can't get better value than this.

Way to go!

Hey Miami Dan!

It's great to see you on UC!!

I met Dan during the Opening Reception of last month's 52 Joker Convention. The complimentary beer and wine was all gone, and the Hotel Bar had just closed (they closed early because of Kentucky laws). Dan mentioned that he had a bunch of beer in his car, so we walked out to grab a couple. He had a cooler FULL of a variety of beers in the trunk of his car (which he had filled before driving straight through from Miami, FL to Erlanger, KY). I knew right then that Dan and I would be kindred spirits, and that I would need to bring my drinking A Game for the next few nights! Dan had an almost college experience during the Convention. He was in one room with four other guys - Ben Kolozsi, Ryan Murphy (56 Sealed), Miami Dan, German Dan and Spuds all shared a room. I think they got the least sleep out of eveyone there.

Friday night was the craziest. Alex Chin decided to startup a Card / Drinking Game in the large lobby are. The game was a huge hit! I think at one point we had around 20 or more people playing (including my wife, Susan). A few of us ended up hitting the gas station across the street for a couple beer runs, and we still ran out of alcohol around 3 or 4 am. It was a crazy night! Many of us were hurting the next morning in the Trading Room. It was well worth the pain and loss of sleep.

For anyone who has never attended a 52 Joker Convention, I would highly recommend trying to make it to next year's Convention in Cleveland, OH. The people you meet are the best part of it for myself. After e-mailing with Jason Rideout (CBJ) for the past 5 or 6 years, we finally met last month. We had some great conversations and drinking sessions! I think Jay's wife enjoyed the Convention as well. I know my wife really enjoyed it this year, and she doesn't really get into Playing Cards!

I could go on for days about it, but I'll just end it with saying that I look forward to the each year's 52 Joker Convention more than I look forward to family reunions or family Christmas parties.

Thanks, Randy

Wow! I didn’t even know that Murphy’s had released it yet.

The new OCULUS is pretty much an inverse of the original (Tuck Front = blue and red, Card Back = blue and white). Mike and I were planning to have it as Stretch Goal or BackerKit release during the Pollock campaign, but the Pollock campaign did better than we had anticipated. We didn’t want to make the Pollock fulfillment more complicated than it was (Brick Box, 3 Decks...), so we offered the new OCULUS up to Murphy’s Magic. Murphy’s printed it with Expert in Taiwan (same as the original). We hadn’t heard anything about the release date. I just assumed it would be around the holidays. I guess they’re ready now!

Thanks, Randy

I would if I could.

We didn’t even know the printing was finished, and we don’t have any Decks to take product shots.
I’ll shoot Murphy’s an e-mail, and ask if they can send us a couple to shoot new product shots.

My guess is they didn’t plan on releasing it yet, but someone in the warehouse pulled those instead of the originals (or they’re out of the originals, and grabbed the new ones to fill the order).

Thanks, Randy

I found out that Murphy’s did a silent release quite some time ago.
Very odd!!

We did the new Tuck on the sweet matte paper stock I love so much (same as Pollock and Draconian Tucks). I haven’t seen the finished Dexk, but the Physical Proofs looked great!

I’ll be seeing some of the Murphy’s ladies next week at Magic Live.
They’re gonna give me a few of the new OCULUS Deck so Mike and I can take some new Product Shots.

Thanks, Randy

I have a little over 200 of the original OCULUS Deck available at MidnightCards.com (out of a Print run of 5,200!).

I’m not sure which sellers have the new OCULUS Deck.

Thanks, Randy
