Just to clarify...is the Cossack deck you are getting the 2014 reprint? The same as the one on ebay? Or is it a different version?

It was first printed in 2014. I set up the PayPal so you can get just decks 1 & 2 for $70 + shipping. My source tells me the October 20th version is a reprint, but the Ukrainian printed decks are of a lower quality, so I made that one optional.

Hey Mike, just to clarify, I would like all three decks. Thanks for going out of your way for doing this for all of us! :)

Ok, The order form is now up - here: http://unitedcardists.com/ucoffers.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's not the t-shirts, it's the "limited" one. All three decks are at the top, decks 1 (Taras Bulba Ukrainian restaurant in Moscow & 2 - Pekelna Harugv - the dark / sinister deck or you can order any single deck using the third one down.

Be sure to pick shipping for Canada or overseas if you are not in the US! It is not handled in PayPal.

Also - The bottom one, which is for a single deck has deck 2 preselected - change it to 1 (Taras Bulba) or 3 (Vodka / Cossacks council) before you hit "Buy Now".

They are three separate forms, the top "Buy Now" is the 3-pack, second one is decks 1 & 2, and the last / bottom one is for any single deck.

I will order them when I get the funds from everyone - or no later than Friday if we have lost people.

I will send each of you reminders by PM & email...

I locked this topic / thread. Send me a PM if you have questions.

ecNate tells me that the single deck option has deck #1 (Taras Bulba) pre-selected even though I set it up to show #2. Also Item VE1 just means a single deck, not literally "Deck #1", it's for me to cross check the total number ordered. It doesn't change to VE2 nor VE3 if you change the drop-down selection. Confusing, sorry!

Thanks, everyone! Slavich's payment has been made, and I will go ahead and order the 29 decks including one spare Pekelna Harugv (#2, the dark & sinister one with Cossacks for Jacks, witches for Queens and killer Kings) just in case Draud makes his payment.

I will get invoiced by PayPal and immediately make payment including shipping for all decks including my own three, and I hope to have them here in ten days, although perhaps two weeks is a more reasonable time considering that I will be receiving a relatively large package from one of the former Soviet communist block countries. After all, I do hold a military Top Secret and NATO Cosmic clearances.

The outbound shipping - all by Priority Mail domestic & International should take 2-3 days in the US and no more than two weeks for anyone overseas or in Canada, although of course I can't account for customs and similar delays. They will be marked as "Gift" with actual value for customs purposes unless you tell me different. Package tracking number should come directly from PayPal, but after finding that none went out (AFAIK) for the t-shirts, I will also send notifications myself.

Oddly enough "large envelope" First Class apparently doesn't get updated for many countries, but some do (Singapore did, Great Britain did not, and I know Italy doesn't, but it appears Australia is not updating them, either - again, AFAIK none have been delivered of the four destined for Australia.

Priority International Flat Rate boxes - so I am told - are always tracked.

This topic is locked on purpose. If you need to send me instructions for customs, please do so by PM.

That was me - I thought it was odd for a list to go 2,1,3 and thought it was a mistake - sorry about that!

No problem, Joe. I did it on purpose, but wěre fine. The decks have all been paid for except one, and I have a single extra Pekelna Harugv deck already on order.

I will keep everyone up-to-date on the progress and check to insure that the notifications go out from PayPal with tracking number information when I ship the decks by sending myself a package.

If they don't, I will send the tracking information put myself.

Darn, mail outbound international from some countries is slow! I am glad we paid for airmail. It took 12 days to get from mailing point to clear customs outbound. Typical transit time from former Russian states is 6 weeks, sometimes longer. Only Russia itself is slower.

It's coming, in two-piece fashion. The total was more than 2kg.

The 2kg shipment shows it arrived at the post office yesterday late afternoon. I suspect the 1kg box is there as well. In any case, I will be there because the t-shirts are waiting for me, also.

Depending on how they were packed, even if only one of the two shipments is there, I should be able to get some packaged ready to ship Monday, along with the shorts.

I'll report what I got once I get up there around noon.

...and they all ARE here, picked them up shortly after noon on my way home from the doctor's visit. The t-shirts were there as well, so I will be packing a lot Saturday & Sunday for shipping around 25 packages Monday morning, mostly Priority Mail except the overseas t-shirts, which ship economy.

All domestic packages should show up Wednesday & Thursday except Hawai'i (and I don't think there are any this time, maybe one?). If you are expecting either (or both), please let me know if you don't get tracking number(s) from PayPal by Monday morning, and I'll send those by PM here. The last batch of t-shirts didn't send them when I printed postage labels, even though it had always done it in the past.

Weird (non) tracking from the former Soviet "eastern block" - worse than before. These showed up in my mailbox (well, the 'pink slips', anyway) about ten days after they show up as "released by customs outbound" with absolutely nothing further even when I look right now, and one was here on Wednesday, the larger (2kg) package, whilst the 1kg box of 10 decks showed up yesterday around 4PM. You used to at least get one update every 24 hours with the USPS, now it just seems to have jumped into a time warp from eastern Europe to my mailbox. Must be using a worm hole these days.

I haven't looked at it with a fine-toothed comb yet, but everything was very well packed and I checked the manifest vice the original order, and we got everything exactly as ordered. Hopefully I don't find any dings in the lot, since I only have one spare deck (two of them mine) because of the cost. These decks are really done well, as opposed to some of the recent Russian decks that tend to come unsealed (as these are) and some even without tucks (which these are not - they all do have tucks). The one exemplar I have of the OG deck which was bought at the restaurant in Moscow is tuck-less in a gold mesh bag with drawstring. Nice presentation for direct sales, but not exactly what you're expecting as a collector.

I started early this morning and finished after about 3 1/2 or 4 hours packing. All t-shirts and these decks were packed, postage printed and ready for drop-off 27 packages at the post office Monday morning. Since everything domestic is shipping Priority Mail, and all of the 30 Vladislav Erko decks overseas as well, those should be delivered Wednesday & Thursday in the US, and the few going overseas should be delivered in about ten days to two weeks. Oddly enough, the ones to Slavich in the Czech Republic let me print postage directly instead of requiring me to post and pay in person this time. I don't recall seeing anything about this changing, but I printed both First Class and Priority Mail International labels for Czech delivery this morning.

I am almost certain that PayPal sent shipping / tracking advice when I printed each label with postage, but if you are amongst the recipients and did not get email with the tracking number, please let me know and I will send you the tracking number(s) either here in PM or by email. I paid the extra to insure any packages that were over $50 in value also (primarily those that ordered all three Vladislav Erko decks). T-Shirts to be delivered overseas or in Canada all went "First Class".

Pretty much a cross-posting of what I said in the UC Charter Member t-shirt promotion thread, but everything hit the post office before 11AM this morning, and all decks went Priority Mail (and International). The domestic ones should arrive Wednesday or Thursday - no later than Friday. Canada and overseas should arrive in ten days to two weeks.

Got my deck of Pekelna Harugv today, well packed. Thanks again for organizing this Mike. I am quite disappointed in the deck though, it's a reprint and we all knew that, I was just hoping for a little better quality. Overall I am glad I have the deck even if it is a replica, because the originals are well beyond the price I'm willing to pay for a stack of paper so it was the only way I was going to get it.

I also found it interesting to compare all the differences between the original and this reprint which I documented in P52. Thanks to WillHart CthulhuWho1 for his comparison images (http://unitedcardists.com/viewtopic.php ... 14&p=87378).

This entry is for the reprint of the original deck that have a modified tuck, standard bridge size with a new simpler back (from the artist's Alice in Wonderland work for some strange reason) and uses basic plastic coated paper stock compared to the original which were a larger size (2.767" X 4.130") and features the original card back and thumb slot tuck. The manufacturer was originally Nage Cards (http://www.nage-cards.ru), but it can not be confirmed who printed this reprint. Likewise, the reprint states the year 2012, but it is assumed the actual print date was later, perhaps as late as 2015.

Odd they chose to replace the back image with one of his images from Alice in Wonderland??? http://www.fairyroom.ru/?p=1134

I was definitely not expecting that back. At first I thought it was an additional joker...until I spread the rest of the deck.

Thanks Mike for organizing this, very well packaged and fast shipping

It kind of threw me as well, since the second print is from Nage Cards as well. The first deck is even stranger with two different tucks and a third oversized edition.

All of the first prints go for $60+ and the "Tavern" Taras Bulba (reddish tuck) goes for $80 - when you can find it. I have one, but it's the only Russian printed deck I have seen that has cellophane, so it's unopened. It is slightly larger, but not much.

Glad to see the postal service actually delivered most of these in two days, as advertised!

Hi Mike,

I'm new to the forum (and to collecting) and was wondering if you by any chance ordered extra of these decks that I can buy from you. If so, can you please pm me?

Thanks

Unfortunately no, I had one extra deck #1,and used it to replace one with a dented tuck.

I might do this again if enough people are interested.

Just keeping up with the current pricing, we all did pretty well: assuming that you got all three decks for $100, the original ("Taras Bulba") now goes for around $40, Pekelna Harugva is $85-$90 (when you can find it) and the Cossacks 1494 deck about $30.

Roughly $155-$160 total eighteen months later. The first deck is hard to find even though the second deck seems to be selling for twice as much, it is usually find-able if you try. I didn't figure out shipping, so it's actually a bit more.

Beautiful decks, and so far I am not aware of Vladislav doing another.

Especially in light of the ongoing war in Ukraine, these lovely decks by Ukrainian designer Vladislav Erko deserve more eyes seeing them. So I'll bump this thread and include some more pictures of his designs.

Korchma Taras Bulba (2005)

This particular deck is based on authentic traditional Ukrainian costumes, including traditional tools and musical instruments. Ironically, it was produced for a restaurant in Moscow. The restaurant is called "Korchma Taras Bulba", and specializes in traditional Ukrainian cuisine. Korchma means "tavern" in Ukrainian, and the name "Taras Bulba" is taken from the chief character and Ukrainian folk here of a historical short story written in 1885 by Nikolai Gogol, and originally published in Russian.

These playing cards were first created in 2005, and a second edition in 2011 had modified suit symbols.

Image

Pekelna Horugva (2012)

His second deck in 2012 was called "Pekelna Horugva", and is a bit darker in tone, but also captures some ethnic and nationalist themes.

I used to see them pop up at Ebay from regular Russian/Ukrainian sellers about 2 years ago. Sadly nothing recently. Missed them as funds were tight back then due to the pandemic.

The only place I can find them for sale is from here: https://artcol.ru/en/cards/classic/g03557

I tried contacting them, but got a response that the owner was on vacation . Never got a response and been too busy to follow up till I saw this. If he does respond, let me know how it goes.

Just a quick few good words for artcol. I've bought 2 or 3 reproductions from him - he always got the decks out quickly and packed carefully for the long journey to the states, and the reproductions were well done (Average time getting here (California) about 14 days - don't take that for granted tho.).
