Adding uncut sheets & collection display options

Unread post by ecNate »

I previously asked about uncuts and no response so started adding them, but rhu has now posted plans for how they may be handled. Apparently the plan is for a selection on a deck to include uncut option (similar to own, trade, whishlist).

My concern with that approach is that it won't immediately allow for uncuts to show in the collection views, and wouldn't it be nice to have uncuts displayed as that image rather than a tuckbox? This is why I initially wanted to list them as their own entries. I'll go back for now and delete those uncut entries and add the uncut images to the main deck.

HOWEVER, this brings up my feature request:

Allow people to select how their collection is displayed by having the code display all uncuts at the end of the collection views with a secondary database query? Or maybe have a separate option of 'uncut collection'? But the ideal method would be to have a new feature would be to choose how collections are displayed:
Single entry (only show once - duplicates and uncuts grouped with first deck)
With duplicates
With uncuts (somehow pull out the selected uncut image - new image selection)
With duplicates and uncuts

Just add them as new decks ;) I'll work out the specifics later! :D

Sounds good, I can't imagine we'll end up with more than 20-30 added before you figure it out and that won't take long to manually relocate if needed. I think there are other reasons to have uncuts on their own since in the case of Curator there was an uncut added a year after the original deck for its own printing. Plus the ease that the uncuts are displayed in a collection view. The cost is also different.

The idea of different ways to handle multiples in a collection or displaying uncuts may still have merit as a feature request, but with uncuts as their own entries this is greatly diminished in my mind.

This idea could also extend to other common add on types e.g.

Uncut sheets
Boxes / displays
Coins
Dice
Clips

etc

(provided they are directly associated with a particular deck or campaign of course!)

Sounds like "accessories" category and in my mind shouldn't be included. Then again, I don't do those so maybe I just don't understand. An uncut IS the deck, just another format or version. Although I can understand desire to record these accessories with the deck it is related to. Sounds like a massive addition unless it was just a generic secondary type which may not meet needs.
