Re: [Jock1971] My Collection
International playing cards produced by John Berry in 2003. This is a reprint of a De La Rue deck published in 1874 for the wedding of Queen Victoria`s second son Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh and Grand Duchess Marie Alexandrovina, daughter of Alexander II of Russia.
In 1894 the New York Consolidated Co became a subsidiary of U.S.P.C.C and began using the U.S.P.C.C date codes when they first appeared in 1904, from June 1930 the N.Y.C.C and Andrew Dougherty merged to become the ConsolidatedDougherty Co. The date letter is R on all 4 Aces, so between 1904 & 1930 the only R code is from 1912.
Anyone with better knowledge of American decks please correct me if i`m wrong. Mechanist Playing Cards designed by Jack Pratt. These can be found on Etsy https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/CedarNorth ... eader-name And last picture today is a double advertising set by Waddingtons Thanks for looking at my cards -jase-

Re: [Jock1971] My Collection
Barribal was contracted to work for Waddingtons around about 1921 and he produced many wonderful drawings which were used for Posters and later on for Playing Cards, at the same time waddingtons were beginning to recognise the benefits of offset lithography against the direct method of printing. It is this combination of first-class art work reproduced photographically using modern offset methods that gave Waddingtons a reputation for making High Quality cards early on in their Playing card manufacturing days.Bruno wrote:Barribal.

I'm going to have to start wearing a bib when I visit your thread Jase....
While I do love old cards they definitely take a back seat to newer decks for me... Except your collection good sir. You've posted more beautiful and interesting old decks than I ever realized existed. It makes me wish I started collecting a few decades ago.

Re: [Jock1971] My Collection
Jase, glad to hear that you are feeling better and in great spirits! PLEASE DO NOT STOP THIS THREAD as it is ALWAYS a joy looking at the cards you show! I am sure that I am not alone when I say that your thread has inspired me to look into, and purchase , decks that I would have never known or thought about. Thank you!Jock1971 wrote:I`ve been under the weather recently with the flu feeling a lot better now i`ve also received a letter today from a old friend which has raised my spirits and i`m ready to take on the world...even though sometimes i wonder why i bother
A deck a day helps keep the addiction at bay!

And some more Waddingtons...yeah
here`s a two deck and four coaster set, backs of cards and coaster show scenes from around Yorkshire. A Rondo deck, advertising Daiquiri. A Convex deck, advertising Monks and Crane Tools. And last picture today is a tax sealed double patience set. Thanks for looking at my cards -jase-
