[Sparkz]My Collection

Unread post by Sparkz »

I know a lot of people have been to my site, so I'll add some snapshots and site images for those who haven't. Playing Cards came along at just the right time for me. I was and still am an avid Zippo collector, but the cost and some undue aggravation has taken the fun out of it. While hunting down a Zippo by Anne Stokes I found her Collection deck and that got me looking into other Art decks, and then that opened up the door to this insanity that started only 6 months ago :D

I enjoy it very much, I've always been a collector so I get very "Into" what ever I collect. You can check out my site and more detailed photos by clicking on my sig.

ENJOY!

Some sweet peeks into your decks, Tony! I love to see them properly displayed and even in a logical arrangement. Mine needs a complete revisit and new indexing done before I go nuts trying to remember a few that I haven't touched in a while. It's interesting that I remember every single price paid for decks, but I also know that if I'm not the one looking - of course - nobody has a clue, although Donna is actually quite aware and sometimes baffles even me in that she remembers certain details that I don't. She even pulled a fast one on JP Middleton over the Christmas time-frame and purchased a pair of blue Legends v2 and also a pair of black JAQK decks since she had overheard me lamenting the fact that I had a brick of red but only 10 blues and also had oversold my black JAQK decks thinking that I had another brick that I now know was never delivered.

Very cool way of displaying your decks, Sparkz! How many of those deck stands do you have, and how much do you pay for those?

If I'm not mistaken, that's De'vo's Dominion deck. They're sold out from his site, but a new green version was just released (there's a thread on it in the New decks section).

Hey V,

I shoot with a Canon EOS 10D with an 18-250mm Zoom Lens. I usually use my speedlight with some creative bounce light and fill cards for my pics and I have a hand made light box/table for most of my shots. Of course a light bit of PS, but nothing that isn't actually there.

Very nice sparkz ! I might do sth with the expect at the card table deck sometime in the future. Ive always wondered, is that your preferred ratio ? Because its not the usual 4:3, or 16:9

Thanks V,

It's actually the size that I used for the details page of each deck on my site, it just looked and laid out right at the time, nothing more. If I ever decide to re-do my site I may change the image sizes a bit, but at this point it would be a HUGE undertaking to reshoot every image to be uniform and consistant. Shooting 6 images of every deck is a little different than shooting one, but who knows....I'm always looking for a better "Vision" ;)

Very nice indeed. I'm on the hunt for those Black Books myself. What is the name of the black and green deck. Very nice.

PS Still can't find those stands/displays. I looked at Hobby Lobby and only found plate displays that are too big. A hint maybe.............

The never ending chase for the perfect display led me here, needs some touch up, but pretty much done. Measures 8ft wide to fit in the recessed section behind my desk.

38 across for a total of 228 decks, there is like 3/4 of an inch to spare on each shelf. Happy with the result, but not without it's headaches.........god I love warped boards, lol.

Nice display Tony! I bet you that took some patience. I'm just not good with wood, so I could have somebody do it for me, I suppose. How tall is each layer? 3.5" or slightly more? I was looking at it thinking that 8" 6" wide would make for 30 across and 10 tall would give 300 decks. I can dream...

Thanks eveyone, Mike, it's approx 29 in. tall, 4" space per shelf. I didn't want to move my outlets or I would have added another row or 2. Slight correction on the capacity, 37 decks perfectly fit end to end, 222 total. I'm still going to utilize my 2 glass door frames off on the right hand side wall for some runs...JR, Encarded, Uusi, etc...

Glad it's done :D

About $200.00 nECr0MaNCeD, not cheap and a lot of work, but I got pretty much what I wanted for that space ;)

You sure did. Not bad cost either when you consider that it would take nearly 4 of the displays sold at CPC to do the same thing. That's $520 without shipping.
