Re: UC Featured Collector for May/June CBJ
Well, today is the last day.
Because I didn't post as frequently as I should have, I'm left posting the last 3 boxes in one day... So get ready to see a whole lot of cards today!
Soooooo...... Here we go... Box #13

Re: UC Featured Collector for May/June CBJ
Well, this is it. The last box.
I do apologize for doing the last 3 boxes in one day... but not much I can do about it now
Sooooo... Here we go... Box #15
So, that's it! All the different decks in my collection. But......... That doesn't include any of my extras.
I have them all pulled out from my collection, and I'm currently setting prices on them. Almost 500 extras/duplicates!
Here's a sneak peek at them:
*** Keep an eye on this thread over the next week for the list of decks I'll be selling, AND... I'll be giving away some stuff in a little mini-contest.
A special thanks to Mike for asking me to be the featured collector over the last 2 months. It was great sharing my collection with everyone, and I hope everyone enjoyed it!

Beautiful collection Jay! Two questions: which is the deck to the right of elves and orcs (box 13) and the decks between totem and whispering imps (box 14)? Can't wait until your prices are posted! Thanks!

Re: UC Featured Collector for May/June CBJ
Wahl, the first deck you are looking at is the draw like a boss deck, pretty hard to find nowadays but a very nice deck. The second deck is the bicycle tinker deck. Both are kickstarter projects.
Talk about ending on a high, brilliant job jay ! Loved all the cards. Now about those duplicates..

Re: UC Featured Collector for May/June CBJ
The deck to the right of the Elves and Orks is from the How to Draw Like a Boss kickstarter project. Not sure of the exact name, but I just call it the Boss deck. The decks between the Whispering Imps and Totems are the Tinker decks (normal and Rusty versions) also from kickstarter. Hope that helps.wahl0108 wrote:Beautiful collection Jay! Thanks again, Jay! I have been sitting back and watching your AMAZING collection being unfolded piece by piece over the past two months.
Sharpie is having family problems and will begin his "Featured Collector" (supposed to start today) soon after he finishes.

I would love to see about scoring some of your duplicate decks! Great collection, lots of cool stuff. I already commented on wanting the sailor Jerry cards, but, the Kracken Rum cards are to die for as well! Also love the Pixel Lincoln.

Anyone knows how to tell the difference between the Normal Monarchs and Gold Monarchs?

The only foolproof way is to open them up. Otherwise, heres a quick read.

Re: UC Featured Collector for May/June CBJ
A whopper of a collection! The best I've seen so far. Thanks for taking all those pics and posting them. I can't imagine how much time it must have taken to bring out every single deck, photograph them, and store them again... especially when you have 700+.
I don't know if you've answered this question before, but why don't you collect vintage decks? Are they simply harder to keep track of, compared to modern-day custom & Bicycle decks? And how do you do your research? Do you just keep eBaying like crazy, use some software that automatically tracks decks you don't have? Or is it a trade secret ?
I"ve been lurking on this thread for a while, but only decided to post because holy crap you're going to sell so much! I gotta get me a piece of that action

Re: UC Featured Collector for May/June CBJ
Thanks everyone!!!! I'm glad you enjoyed my thread!
I'd love to get one of every deck off this list: http://www.cypressfilms.com/bicycle/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Hmmm, I don't want to divulge too much.. because why would you guys need me anymore?? lol
I normally search Ebay a couple times a day using appox 5 different word combinations. If I see something I really like, I normally message the seller right away and make an offer. I hate being snipered, so I like to avoid the auction format as much as possible.
I don't use any software for searches, but I do have a shared online google Excel doc that I keep track of all the modern "Bicycle" decks I don't have. It looks like this:
On top pf that, I have made a lot of contacts over the last 5 years, and a lot of times I get info from those contacts.
It also helps that I get to see a lot of people's Facebook postings on my FB page, sometimes people post decks I've never seen... like the new Android deck recently, and the Suncity last year.
I hope this answers the questions
Keep the questions coming!!!
Jay
Plain and simple... they're just too expensive. I've followed tons of ebay auctions, and the ones I have bid on go way WAY out of my league... 1400+Godzillian wrote:why don't you collect vintage decks? Are they simply harder to keep track of, compared to modern-day custom & Bicycle decks?

I started doing a spreadsheet similar to that, but haven't updated it recently. Must remember to get around to doing that some time... How often do you update yours? Daily? Once a week?

Huh, same here. I think I lost track of mine after the explosion of projects & decks after the new year...Sher wrote:I started doing a spreadsheet similar to that, but haven't updated it recently. Hey CBJ, looking at your spreadsheet, I see that you pledge for only 1 or 2 decks per project. Do you ever buy 2 of a kind, just to open 1 and keep 1 sealed? Or are you a buy 1 keep 1 sealed person?

Hey, my friend bailed on me... so I'm considering tackling the job.
I may put the standard AOS spade pip on the box, and of course I'll post pics when it's done!
I try to update whenever I see a new Bicycle deck come out... but sometimes I fall behind.Sher wrote:How often do you update yours? Daily? Once a week?
I normally buy only 1 of each deck, but obviously that's not always the case (look at all my extras!!!)Godzillian wrote:Hey CBJ, looking at your spreadsheet, I see that you pledge for only 1 or 2 decks per project. I rarely open decks.

Yeah, If you go back and look at that list I showed.. there are a couple of dozen "in the marketplace" decks that I don't have(23 as of this minute to be exact). This of course is modern decks.
I'd love to get one of each of the vintage decks.. which is over 100 different decks. I'll most likely never get any, they go for too much money.
But, if I ever did win the lotto... It's very high on the list.

Re: UC Featured Collector for May/June CBJ
I guess I can post some more stuff while we wait for Sharpie...
Arcane Printing plates
Acrylic stands that I bought from China... these are very very cheap plastic.
Some poker stuff from the man cave...
Some decals...
The certificate that came with my private collection Seasons set. I wish he wouldn't have hand written the number
Do you guys want to see more stuff?? Or should I just wait for Sharpie to start?

It's been pushed back until the start of next month, possibly putting the one next in line if Sharpie's still occupied. So the floor is yours for at least another week

Re: UC Featured Collector for May/June CBJ
Those are really cool! How did you get those printing plates? Also, did you print the labels on the Acrylic stands, or were you given the option to have something printed as a label and they did the printing for you? The seasons certificate looks really nice, but yeah I agree it would have been better if the number wasn't hand written.
Thanks for sharing I'd love to see more stuff!
