The Colonial Unrest Kickstarter from R.J Tomlinson came in yesterday. :D
602.JPG
I`m not sure why i went with the signed decks :? Oh well gives me an excuse to get some more to open :D
A couple of Venise Simplon - Orient Express decks next .
The first one is from 1984. The pack was designed by the studio of Gerard Gallet and printed by Grimauld of France.
604.JPG
The next one again by Grimauld is a reprint of an earlier pack from 1890 titled "Indiennes" which had no indices.
Reprinted specially for VSOE in 1985 with indices added.
603.JPG

I would like to ask for Help in locating another Venise Simplon - Orient Express deck. The one i`m searching for was produced by Waddingtons in 1990. If you Have/find this deck i would be willing to buy or trade (That`s if your willing to part with it ) The cards can be see here.
http://www.wopc.co.uk/waddingtons/orient-express.html

And a couple of Waddingtons to finish off today.

You have amazing variety in your collection - how many decks do you think you have now?

Are any of those books better than the others? I have a few of them on my maybe list, but a number of them seem outdated or misinformation from what I've read and are mostly best for collector items themselves to to browse photos rather than content. I'm especially considering that most recent one you posted.

Hiya ecNate :D
Thanks for the question i`m not a great book reviewer  but i`ll give it a shot.
I`m sure Dazzelguts would give you pointers on which books to get better than me
The four book from the earlier post are all from the early 70`s, although informative for the most part only give a broad view on collecting cards and focusing only on very few decks from various regions or subjects, also for the most part the photo`s are black and white with only a few coloured ones in each. Of the four books the silvia mann one is the one i like only because it focuses on european deck`s that i`m most interested in.
As for the little one in my latest post , well it only cost £2 , it has 375 pages with each page showing an individual card in colour from a deck. there is little information about the cards.heres some quick scans of some of the pages

Thanks Jase, that helps. Really cool you went and included scanned pages too! I went ahead and got that one, since it was fairly cheap on ebay, still more left if others want (Amazon resellers have a ton too, but this ebay one looks like they have a bunch basically new) - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Collectible-Pla ... 1096450357

I also put the Mann one on my watchlist.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the confidence Jase :) , but I can only recommend the books I have and know, and it's starting to look like you have more books than me  . I did recently find a Nintendo History volume 1, and can say that it's an interesting read all through. I was a little disappointed in the size of the playing card section, but it is more info on Nintendo cards than you can currently find anywhere else.

Congrats on the complete Wills Tobacco cards set :ugdance:
Is that text card shown at the bottom of the picture showing the back of the cards?

Hey Dazzelguts :) .
Yes those are the backs, i had to buy four part sets to make the full deck, so i have exactly 100 cards, three of which are Jokers which could be exchanged for any card, also seven of the hundred have been over printed on the back in red with the cut-off date of the scheme,28th February 1934.

A few Parcels came today :D
The first one came as a result of a trade WITH a friend 8-) . Thanks Daniel . Once again these were shipped very fast and the decks arrived in perfect condition.
627.JPG
The Blackout Kingdom Kickstarter from Gamblers Warehouse next.
629.JPG
Four Point Kickstarter by Ben Vierck next. With tucks he took the time to embossed himself 8-)
628.JPG
That`s all that came today ,so to finish the post some more modern decks from my collection.

Glad the decks arrived safe. Trusty ice cream sandwich.
I have to say I'm completely happy with the Four Points deck. Great design, amazing price, fast delivery and he even went the extra mile with the embossing. Really great!

Hiya Eoghann :D
Thanks for that comment 8-) ,I think i`ve confused you on the title of the Grimauld deck, its called "Orient express" and it is a reprint of an earlier deck called "Indiennes", mine has indices where the original has none(sorry for the confusion) and i also agree about the four point cards especially the Mint edition.

Another 2 parcels came today one a result of a trade. , the other a kickstarter.
The first a result of a trade :D Thanks Kai. Excellent condition and some cool cards once again.
631.JPG
The "Sawdust" kickstarter from Emmanuel Jose next. Guaranteed Excellence.
632.JPG
The start of a "Fournier" Mega-post now (another 3 posts worth :o ), i bought a joblot of Fournier decks a week or so ago and the Museum book was included.
633.JPG
The book`s been signed and dated by the author. This Slab of metal was included also???? its Bridge size and the height of a Skat deck ,and is very heavy (i`ve no scales sorry :()
634.JPG
Thanks for looking at my cards :D -jase-

Edit - The back of the metal thingie in the last picture has "Centenario 1868-1968" inscribed on the back.

So first up is a Double and Single deck, European Naval Powers produced in 1981.
635.JPG
A single deck titled The Nude in Art dating from 1977.
636.JPG
Another single deck titled Fiesta Taurina from 1975, each card depicting either a scene from a bullfight or a famous matador.

A bridge and patience set titled Europe and was produced in 1982. The courts are rather cool looking characters wearing clothes that are taken from well-documented records from 16th century Europe.
639.JPG
Net up one of my favorite Fournier sets, "Far east" dated 1980. Once again my photographic skills have let me down,as these cards are covered in Gold ink and look amazing in Hand.
640.JPG
"Chinese Costumes" was produced in 1984.
641.JPG
And a pair of Red and Blue standard Bridge size 525 Brand decks to finish.

I asked how she knew what cards to get me...she told me she went to the last site on my browser history and bought the cheapest pack she could find   (the site was Gamesetal.net)

Another kickstarter came today, Cards for conquerors from Scott king.
I was unhappy with Scott for selling his cards on e-bay before all backers had there cards. After a few PM`s he sent the cards to me the next day. i got the cards and there is no Iron Scale standard edition :( so here`s the Blizzard wing and the King deck.
651.JPG
Here`s the limited Editions
652.JPG
I went for the lot with this kickstarter. Unfortunately i won`t be backing any other of Scott`s kickstarters from now on as i could have got the cards i actually wanted faster. Here`s the KING boxset No104 Oops :(
653.JPG
And last a Beautiful Britain pack from Waddingtons .This pack is interesting to me because of the sticker down the side which tells the customer about the seal which replaces the governments Tax wrapper on the 4th Aug 1960.

Hi Jase. :)
That's a really early Vito Arienti deck. He eventually started issuing facsimiles under the "brand" Edizione del Solleone, and my decks from him are all Solleone decks. Here's some indirect info on your deck, from the National Library of Malta:
http://m2.facebook.com/notes/national-l ... 857584603/

And from the British Museum here's what seems to be the original source of Arienti's deck:
http://www.britishmuseum.org/research/c ... -23&page=1

**Edit
The maker of the Russian deck is likely to be the Saint Petersburg Colour Printing Plant that closed in 2004. They started making cards in 1817 and were a state monopoly.
