Kickstarter.com limits pledges to $999? Anyone pledged more?

We ran into what appears to be a hard coded limitation on KS. Someone wants the Magnum Opus for The Book of Shadows Tarot campaign, and pledged $2000. He's a lawyer in LA.

Then it gets interesting. The charge goes through, but when he went back to the page after getting the "You did it!" message, another message popped up saying that "Something went wrong" and the total was not updated.

I tried it myself, and found that $1000 does that exact same thing, but $999 "sticks". For now, Andrea sent a message to KS support asking what's going on, but I suspect that they have hard coded the maximum pledge at $999. He can't select the Magnum Opus because it says that he needs to increase his pledge amount.

My guess is that the only workaround is to change the tier to $999 but that would leave $1001 not pledged to the total.

We know that another "deep pockets" Backer pledged $500 and selected "No Reward". Maybe to keep an accurate account we have to have him pledge another $999? Just thinking. That was my suggestion.

I am headed into town for lunch and to take Donna & myself to see Jurassic World...

Back about 4.

Must be a recent thing. Back when we pledged for the $1000 Grotesque tier, it worked fine.

Could it be related to the backer's credit card limit instead of Kickstarter? There are other categories with highest pledges. Quick search, Oculus Rift had a 5.000$ tier, with some sold.

Oh, I know. Regardless of what the feds say, I saw two $5000 pledges go through on the Grotesque campaign when the dummy tier went up as a flag meaning that the Signature Editions were available.

I've seen $1000+ pledges happen elsewhere, but didnt remember just how recently I have seen it.

Doesn't seem like it's his card, because he created a second account and pledged another $999. Strange one...

Of course, being that it happened on a weekend, we won't hear squat from KS until at least Monday.

According the FAQ:

https://www.kickstarter.com/help/faq/cr ... #faq_62961

Either that's out of date or you found a bug...

No, not really certain why it happened, but the backer is a new backer never on KS. before, and we had them create a second account and pledge $999 twice, then removed the $2000 tier.

You would think from reading things that you could mark that tier "Sold Out", but it won't let you do that I'd a tier only has 1 available item. I guess it's because there have been no sales, as far as it knows? I won't go find that part of the instructions, but "you can mark a tier" Sold Out" at any time is definitely in there. We have used it before to prevent speculation on Early Bird tiers. (we found someone selling their pledge, which doesn't make sense. You don't own anything until the campaign is over).

Joe - I found the same table for maximum pledges. Since it is setup as being in the US, it's strange...
