The google calendar works perfectly. It is great. You should make an announcement in the general forum to share.
Great idea.

Re: ### Placeholder for launch tracking, etc ###
Can we also please add the END dates for projects? That's just as important and will help to serve as a last minute reminder to jump aboard, withdraw or make any final changes. I would just suggest this be 2 DISTINCT dates and not a project duration of start date and end date that then has it show up for every day in between. It should be a specific date and time for start and a NEW entry for specific date and time for end. The initial entry once populated can just be duplicated in google calendar to keep all description info and then just tweak the title and update the date/time.
Side note - the PCDB Facebook midweek reminders are going away and hopefully I will hear that another group will take that over. However, even if that does happen I think this would be a great and important addition to the Event Calendar.

Now, if we could just get the artists to use it
I suppose we can all chip in and add things, but the plan was to let them "own" their entries so they could move them if needed.

What time? Anyone can add a new launch time, you just use the "+Google Calendar" multicolored button at the bottom right of the calendar display page.th4mo wrote:This is supposed to be launching soon...

The idea was for the artists to do their own, but it appears that we are going to be doing it ourselves...

I guess we didn't think about that. These days anyone with an Android phone has one, and lots of people use them as "dead drops" (sign ups for mail you don't want to see).th4mo wrote:So if you don't have a gmail account, you can't add events?volantangel wrote:Pretty sure its your own account, and you can share the event with this account and it automatically accepts

Re: Discussion for launch tracking
I just added the Aquila Signature release. Does it look ok. Anything else need to be added? Since it will mostly be UC members updating this, so it seems, I guess mainly general when and where will suffice.

True, Brent. I figured that the artists would like having a shared resource to help with scheduling, but I suppose they don't necessarily want to show us their cards, eh?

More or less. I tried adding an event to my hotmail/live calendar and invite the group calendar, but it didn't take.th4mo wrote:So if you don't have a gmail account, you can't add events?volantangel wrote:Pretty sure its your own account, and you can share the event with this account and it automatically accepts
But then it's a matter of 5 mins to get a Google calendar. Not like you need to use "real" details to sign up eh

Re: Discussion for launch tracking
I like this calendar feature and put at the top of my Kickstarter home screen on my phone. Nice to have it all together there.
Android - I used Smooth Calendar to bring in the calendar widget and specified only this calendar to display, the other widgets are from TechFunder app
I would like to see end dates added as well. Perhaps prefixed with 'END - ' or something.
BTW - The only way I can add to this calendar as somebody who doesn't own it seems to be by creating a new event on one of my calendars and then inviting unitedcardists@gmail.com and assume it won't show up until somebody accepts it, unless I'm missing something? Obviously people could submit their gmail account IDs and they could be added as authorized users, but if that's not done I think this is the only way others can add. I wonder if I then delete from my calendar then it drops from the UC one since I control it? Will it even be added unless somebody who controls the UC gmail account forces it onto this specific calendar??? I suppose you could make this the default calendar for UC and then select option to Auto-accept invitations', but me thinks perhaps you need a small group of admins willing to maintain the calendar directly, but we'll see.

This is what I used. I couldn't get anything to show up using unitedcardists@gmail.com but add the address above and everything shows up now. also add that as a guest and it should show up.montecarlojoe wrote:That works for you because the Deck Release calendar is a public group calendar on the main UC account.
Others can add to the calendar by doing this:
1. (optional) Subscribe to the calendar by clicking the button to the bottom right
2. Create your launch event in your own Google calendar
3. Add 1pcg1r29f4a286a7en76cddf48@group.calendar.google.com as a guest
4. Save.

Re: Discussion for launch tracking
Yeah - for some reason you can't set a the primary calendar to accept things automatically (EDIT - actually you can, but it's a faff, and it's also nice to keep the main calendar separate for Mike to plan in private lol) - you have to create a separate group calendar on the account - and they don't come with nice looking aliases!
I'm currently sorting out a help page for the calendar to help with this!

No password needed other than your own google password.
Just click the subscribe link on the UC calendar, and if you're prompted to log in it's your own google account.
Once subscribed make sure it's ticked as visible in your calendar view.
In android:
Open the stock calendar app
Go to options>Accounts(Multi Calendar).
Make sure Google is ticked and touch the ... button next to it.
On this screen make sure Deck Release is ticked.
Save
Save
If you cant see the deck release option, try removing and re-adding google to your calendar accounts.
If you are using third party calendar apps (i do for a nicer widget), you need to do the above before the calendar will be available for display as they use the stock calendar functionality.
