What's special about these cards?

Unread post by PlanisViator »

Hello. I just wanted to ask: Why are people bidding so high on these cards? What's special about them?

Thank you.

I suppose it's because they're vintage, old, rare and so on.

I don't know enough about vintage decks to comment on whether the selling price here is suitable, but from what I've heard certain vintage decks can sell at pretty high prices just because they're rare and sought-after.

The seller only has 4 ebay sells and the other stuff being sold isn't cards, so that is odd because they don't appear to be some major vintage card seller. I would assume they are really shocked. There were three main bidders. If it was something rare in the lot, it was not obvious based on the header, so I would think serious collectors would have a challenge even finding it in all the ebay chaff. Maybe someone saw it and posted or communicated to other interested collectors. Still, it is odd. I am also not very knoweledgable on vintage cards either. It just seems odd. The high bidder only has feedback on 13 items. The second and third highest bidder have several hundred items with feedback...It is a mystery to me. Thanks for sharing though. I will be interested if someone can shed some light on this lot.

When you start hunting around, sometimes you find something interesting. Check this deck out:

When laundering money, is it laundered in amounts as low as a thousand bucks here, one and a half thousand there?

Rouselle,

That is entirely possible. Although, most people just use cryptocurrencies nowadays when they don't want payments to be tracked. Most money laundering isn't for large amounts. This is one reason eBay was in regulatory hot water back in the late 90s/early 00s. But, the big boys usually use things like art auctions to launder large amounts of cash.

When I first got into this hobby, I seriously thought it was just a cover for money laundering. Seeing what some of these decks sell for was a shock.

Heh.

Although, the idea behind money laundering is to start with something clean, not stolen. :)
