I'm really looking forward to these. The pips look awesome and I hope you're going to be using that light blue color I see.

As nice as the first three look, I've been looking forward to Tendril V2 for a long time now. It's even got the UC color scheme :D

yes, Tettura (short for the italian architettura) was inspired by a view upwards into a dramatic architectural space. That design is the least complete of those 4 and I hope to add more detail and color to it.

One of the things i love most while travelling is to take a picture straight upwards into the ceiling, capturing the perfect symmetry that people very often overlook. One of the hardest photos to take as well, having to crank your neck all the way backwards and theres really no room for error. One of my favourite shots, not quite to the theme (actually it looks more like zenith lol). Pardon me for hijacking the thread a little

Thanks shermaine, maybe I should start a topic in the general section showing off photography stuff, and not hijack threads like this.

On a more relevant note, Paul is the first deck oriental themed ?

The first blue one actually inspired by the traditional compass rose and the sea.

Any time frame for these ones?

No specific dates, but realistically the new Tendril deck will be the next major project you see from me. The others may or may not appear, I'm still experimenting and pondering each of those.

Are these going to be kickstarter, "Signature Series" otherwise or a mixture of them? As you can tell I'm chomping at the bit to get myself a few (however many you decide) of those Zenith decks! Damn, I can taste it already, and they likely headed by my house on the coast in South Carolina headed for the port in New York a few days ago...

Paul already said (ages ago) that these will not be on kickstarter, only on his site.

Thanks, Tom. I thought that was the case but I couldn't put my finger on his message, even though of course it's not here in this area - I did look around a little.

Since you know that, are they all going to be "Signature Series" decks, or . . . ?? I realize that he has already said (above) that these aren't all necessarily going to even be made, but I'm thinking something like the follow-up to Tendrils would be something he would want more than 1000 decks to be produced.

You know what, I'm mistaken. I thought this was the Zenith thread  That's what I get for having double digit tabs open and the tv on at the same time. So I'm sorry, I have no idea what I'm talking about :ugthink:

Had to move this over from the Zenith thread, sorry. So when do the details on Tendril Ascendant come out and will it have the color scheme depicted? Thanks Paul!

The back design is somewhere in this thread, so I guess that'll address the color scheme part.

So, here's an Encarded status report.

First, if you happen to take a trip through the store you will notice that darn near everything is sold out. That is both good and bad. ;) It's nice to be able to say as a designer that everything you've made has sold out, but it also leaves the fan with nothing to acquire, which is bad.

To that end, there are several things in process. My "Standard Back" staple deck is in quoting right now and I hope to get that on the presses shortly. The first edition will be blue and sold through the store and probably some select resellers. It will be a nice, solid deck at a good price. Expect it to be a first edition run of perhaps 3,000 and if/when that sells I will produce another edition. My aim is to have a cool looking affordable deck always in stock as time goes on.

Second, Tendril:Ascendant will be the next major project. It will probably be done through private crowdfunding, though Kickstarter is a possibility. As with all Encarded projects, do not expect 1000 add-ons and other garbage. For my own sanity and to focus on the cards, I like to keep things simple. However, you can expect a few very pleasant little surprises, so long as the stars align. :ucstar:

I have three other designs in various stages. One is fully designed and just needs some boring production work. The second is a signature series deck, taken from a hand sketch I did a while ago that really grabbed my, and the third is in concept phases, with some preliminary design work done but no specifics on how it might look in the end. These projects will probably be a while in coming, but there are always some new creative endeavors on the burner.

So, now it is your turn to ask me anything. I will answer as best I can without breaking my internal Non Disclosure Agreement.

Well Paul, I was hoping to get some more Aurum Sovereign Editions next payday. Glad I got the two extras last payday.

Silly question but will you be kind enough to give us a heads up when the release date for Tendril:Ascendant gets close?

When you say "private crowdfunding", what does that mean? Private as in something you'll set up yourself, or just "more private" than KS?

LOl, nice gif there.

To answer questions:

Yes, there will be plenty of forewarning on the timing of the new Tendril. I had fun with the little "surprise" campaign with Aurum, but this will get a normal rollout and previews.

As to "private crowdfunding" I mean utilizing a system like Kings Wild Funded has. That is, crowdfunding but not on kickstarter, using an open source platform. Using Kings Wild Funding itself is a possibility, or I could directly use the same system with my own setup. I am still weighing the many pros/cons of all these approaches. Not giving extra profit away to KS is always appealing, but there is no denying their market reach and number of eyeballs either. Being a web developer however, I do appreciate having more direct control over things, so we'll see what happens.
