Re: Explosion in China
I googled it, but all I could find was that it started in a warehouse and the cause is yet to be determined. Pretty vague.
And Godzilla only attacks Japan. Duh!

Re: Explosion in China (wap)
That's insane. I would say it was either a tank farm, gas main, or possibly even a sewer system explosion. From the size of the explosions and the distance of the aftershock, I'd lean towards a small tank far.

Re: Explosion in China
If the info I saw is correct locals have reported it to have been a gas station explosion that ignited 2 nearby oil tanks which were close to a chemical warehouse - the biggest explosion being the warehouse. Officials claim the cause is still unclear
Reports of only dozens dead, 700 injured, must to be very very conservative. That blast radius is huge and many buildings were utterly destroyed. This is a tragic event for so many

Re: Explosion in China (wap)
I was close. I said a small tank farm. A gas station typically has 3-5 tanks. Even if they exploded one at a time, they wouldn't have caused those explosions. Gas station tanks hold approximately 10000 gallons per tank. The oil tanks probably contained from 50000-150000 barrels, possibly more. That could've definitely caused those sized explosions.

Re: Explosion in China
Sorry Cbkimble, no criticism intended
I was rolling my eyes at the officials not stating the cause days later, when the locals were talking it up online the same day. I'm sad that people going through such loss and pain have to deal with political censorship as well.
There has apparently been heavy censorship attempted by the Chinese government, but once something is out on social media.... The official story puts all blame on the company owning the chemical warehouse, which blew up in the biggest explosion, but I think bad governance plays a hefty part. Too many flamables stored too close together, and too close to where people live.

Re: Explosion in China (wap)
You think that's bad. If that were to happen in Houston, there would be no Houston. Thousands of tanks close enough that if one blew like those did, it would start an unstoppable chain reaction.
