New displays

Unread post by nECr0MaNCeD »

So I finally got these assembled, Mounted (well one anyway) and set up. I took a couple hundred pics because I lack Volantangel's photo skills. These are the best of them. The display shelves on the top of each are from Ikea as well. Thanks to the person who posted the pics and links. The pics don't do these justice. They are beautiful. (Once I get them lighted they will be even better) There is a link below to the Ikea page for them.

Thank you everyone. Sorry for the reflections of me in the glass I struggled with flash/no flash, lighting and reflections for days.

Very cool! Have you thought about painting or staining them? It might make it more dark inside, but if you plan on lighting them it could look super cool.

I've already got my collection display mostly sorted out, but if I had seen these before it would have been a strong contender as an option. I may look at these to use as my in wall display cheater for my car collection though, thanks for the sharing.

Also, you need another cabinet just for the Jackson stuff, that shelf is already overloaded and with what he has on the way you have a matter of weeks or months I fear.

I did think of staining them but it really needed to be done before building them and I was impatient to get them built. I still might stain them with a light stain then seal them.

As for Jackson's stuff... yeah I agree. Problem is I am fast running out of room for displays.

Very nice, IKEA does have some very nice displays. You can light them very easily with some LED strip lighting running along the edges.

Just wondering, what are the dimensions of the back panels. Had the thought of using a cheap $10 Bicycle uncut sheet as a backer, but would probably be too busy.

I was thinking the same for the lighting. The smaller of the two has a hole in the top for wiring. Not sure why the larger one doesn't but it shouldn't be too hard.

The smaller one is 27 1/2 x 27 1/2. An uncut could be trimmed to fit I think. (Can't remember the dimensions right now) The larger display is roughly 25 5/8 x 42 1/2 so not really possible (I think) I also agree it would be too "busy" though. I was thinking getting some very light card art air brushed onto the backs.

The "Bicycle 808" tin sign posted 'renewed' recently could be used as a pattern or enlarged as needed to cover and would make really nice 'ephemera' for the deck displays.

Great suggestion Mike. Although I think I would want it to be "unbranded".
