Why Black Fontaine and many decks are so cheap in this shop?

Unread post by Nelson Harris »

I found a Taobao shop in HongKong is selling playing cards very very cheap.
Black Fontaine 58RMB(8.5USD),ANTLER BUCK 42.8RMB(6.8USD), Arcane30RMB(4.8USD), Love Me30RMB(4.8USD)
It is too cheap. Is there anyone know can I trust this shop and buy the cards from this shop?

My first thought would be that they are fakes since most western countries do not understand China's Intellectual Property laws and don't bother to get protection. Contrary to popular belief Chine has very strict IP laws but you must apply there as they don't recognize copyrights and trademarks from other country's. I saw a documentary on this not long ago. Anyway, I can't them being legit at those prices.

I'm very skeptical, simply because they would use pictures of the real thing(s) and what you receive could be just about anything. If anyone orders one, I would love to see what you get.

The other possibility is that they have their hooks in either the manufacturer or the supply chain and these are real - but unknown to the designers. I wonder if the manufacturer is the same for all four?

Either way, it's just not reasonable to think it's going to be what you expect (although in the latter case, what you get could be real)...

I don't do Chinese, but we have a mod in Singapore that does. What's the Web address?

Hmmm... I ligger my way to the registration page and put my phone number in to verify and instead of a code, I got a note (in English) to call them in Hong Kong.

I've personally bought from card sellers on Taobao and the cards are definitely authentic. The sellers are very nice as well, if you know how to communicate with them in Mandarin ;)

PS. The shop is in Beijing, Mainland China. Not Hong Kong.
