I used to live in the "Chinatown" of BC's capital city. Loved to watch the dragon dance through Fan Tan Alley below us, and hear the drums and fireworks. There were often martial arts demos as well.

Haha lunar new year = Chinese New Year, basically it's new year based on the lunar calendar haha it's not just the countries that Paula has listed, basically it's all the Chinese in all of South Asia it's bigger than Christmas around here

Funnily enough I help out the Local Chinese Association with their website. Scored a free ticket to their show at the Guild Hall to celebrate the end of the Lunar Festival (this is basically the end of a months worth of celebration).

Also going to a traditional local restaurant - (you know it's good because it's always full of Chinese families, rather than students waiting for a take away lol), and they serve a traditional menu as well as the westernised version most of us are used to. Each year they have Lion Dancers come in - great fun!
