Hello!

Unread postby DanFeldmeier » Fri Jan 13, 2017 9:27 pm

I'm an artist and illustrator that's found a bit of a passion for creating custom cards. I've always admired people's work on cards, especially as of late, so I figured I'd take my love of illustration and attempt my own. I'm not always the most verbose or interactive of people but I'm always open to a conversation.

Welcome to UC, Dan!

I chunked you into the Deck Artist group per our conversation on Facebook, and your posts will show up now that I approved this one.

One more and you should be able to use the PM (Private Message) to other users, also.

You might want to check out the Drafting Board conference/forum before you post your ideas so you have a good feel for how things work.

Feel free to ask questions direct to me if needed, but in general most things should be fairly simple to use and almost everyone around here loves to help. One thing, though - people can be brutally honest - sometimes it comes off as brusque, but almost every time people here know the business, what sells and those things that you need to fix to be focused in the contemporary playing card design field. Don't be bashful, but don't be gun-shy, either.

Thanks Mike, much appreciated! And thanks for the heads up regarding the brutal honesty I may end up receiving :) I imagine I'd probably be more likely to learn a thing or two from people who knows the playing card world, even if their words seem harsh, than I would just jumping into things without much real knowledge.

No problem, Dan. It's not intended to be harsh, or I suppose sometimes it is. You'd be surprised how many people come here and decide that the collective knowledge of the group here is less than their own "knowledge" of the business. As you can see by looking around a little, we have a well rounded, diverse group of Cardists, Magicians, card collectors and friends. We're not always right, but we sure try.

Exactly where I was going with my comments above: we have enough diversity to cover almost every aspect of the business if not two or three times, with a wide variety of experiences in artists, project managers, card users and collectors of all kinds, etc

Enjoy!
