Member pre-order for Nouveau / Bourgogne Gran Riserva Friday

Unread postby Mike Ratledge » Thu Oct 08, 2015 9:26 am

Members only will be able to reserve one Nouveau Gran Riserva and/or one Bourgogne Gran Riserva decks this Friday evening at 7PM EDT. I realize that is not a perfect time for everyone, there is none. It might be 4PM in California, but it's midnight in Central Europe and early morning in Asia/Pacific/Oceania region. It's the best we can do.

Rules; there might be separate editions for members, maybe not. If we sell more than 50 units of each, it will be split between UC members (with Roman numerals) and public with standard digits.. We can't take requests for specific numbers, it will be complicated enough.

The ONLY way to get them is to increase your pledge and send Karin a comment on KS saying that you added $×× for "Nouveau", "Bourgogne" or both - along with your UC member name.

Affter careful working with the costs for the dual laser cut tucks and everything, the price is $60 per deck plus $10 shipping worldwide from Spain for one or both decks, in other words $70 for one, $130 for both. Shipped from Taiwan to Texas to Barcelona for assembly and customization, then shipped to you (obviously separate from the regular dexks).

You must give your member name here to reserve Friday night. If you get them Friday, you can't buy more Saturday. The idea is to make them exclusive as possible, and there's still a little more to be revealed about the dual layer laser cut tucks. You'll know it when you see it.

So does that mean if we get the UC member only decks we can't get the public Gran Riserva decks?

I forgot to add the clarification about what was still "unknown" or not yet shown:

because of the way the renderings are lit internally (i.e. almost glow from the inside), it doesn't show that the part that looks black in both versions is actually silver metallic. In other words, it looks more-or-less like a 191x''s Art Nouveau style cigarette case, kind of like the attachment. This isn't the best example, there's no knurled knob on the side, and it isn't earthy brown (it's either Burgundy red or Jade green) WITH the metallic silver in the style shown in her updates on Kickstarter.

The first picture is one of an actual Art Nouveau cigarette case from the early 1900's, and the second is the rendering from the project's update on Kickstarter. The target look is to be either red or green background with a flowing laser cut silver metallic heavy "paperboard", hand assembled, serially numbered (what I meant when I said "personalized"); all of which has the five Spanish suited cards added to the original 54-card deck and shipped anywhere in the world from Barcelona Spain by Karin (separate from the main decks, of course - and likely about a month later, because the decks used have to get to Gambler's Warehouse fulfillment center in Texas before they are mailed to Karin in Spain.

Karin still has to order the actual paperboard stock, but the intent right now as I understand it is for the Jade/green version to have contrasting silver metallic and the Burgundy version (Bourgogne) to have gold metallic contrasting laser cut scroll-work.

The picture is an actual cigarette case - more or less what we're shooting for (kind of), not supposed to be an example of what you expect to show up in your mailbox eventually - that will look much more like the rendering of the green or red double layer laser cut custom tuck box.

You can have one or both Nouveau & Bourgogne Gran Riserva decks, but you can't get both UC member and public versions. It just is terribly unfair to the non members, and we're already letting UC members get 1/2 of the total number of GR decks available without public non-members even knowing about it, basically.

Please be fair, folks! You're getting the ability to order yourself two of these before anyone else - as it is already.

We do appreciate the opportunity!

On that note, I guess we need to let all members know to not comment on the project page after upping their pledge!

Thanks Mike.

I'll be posting an update tomorrow with another card and a better render of the box but here's what Gran Reserva will feature (i know that Mike already explained it but i wanted to do it again, just in case :) ):
- A box made of metallic card stock, with a double layer and laser cut design. Note that both layers and the entire box will be metallic card stock (I'm aware that you can't see it because of the quality of the render but I'll show better graphics tomorrow).
- A signed and hand numbered deck (in roman numerals for UC members).
- 5 extra cards depicting spanish characters and suits (I already revealed 2 of them, one more will be revealed tomorrow). The coloring of the back will also be different. The 330gsm Superior smooth card stock will be used for these extra cards. These cards will be signed, only for UC members.
- You can choose between NOUVEAU or BOURGOGNE. The colors used for the box will depend on the deck you choose. Note that there will only be 50 available of each. You can add one of each, in which case you'll only be paying for one shipping of $10.

Is it possible NOT have the Reserva decks signed. What I mean is, I do want my decks numbered in roman numerals, but I prefer NOT to have the actual tuck box signed by the creator. No offense Karin. Can you clarify the above statement..

Thanks,

Against my wallet's better judgement I've added 130 for both decks.
Sent similar message on KS with my name on here.
