Ivan of Kardify found a site http://www.KickScammed.com that is 100% of where I wanted to go with my "KickBacker" (later KickStabber) idea, and I'm just now investigating it. I'll link our "Hall of Shame" for playing card campaign on it as soon as I complete my registration.

Aside from the humor (humour?) in them not being able to spell "rein" correctly, it's interesting that consumer protection is beginning to encroach upon crowdfunding. Not surprising that it starts overseas though.

Interesting - I wonder what (if anything) we'll see from Kickstarter in April?

I would like to suggest putting Mustache playing cards on the list. I asked for a refund. I dunno if I'll get it, but it was worth a shot. Didn't officially back it on Kickstarter, but he sent me a "second chance backer" invite to backerkit and I was charged.

I pledged too. I actually think he probablky will eventually deliver - but that 6 months overdue cuttoff for the Hall of shame is the end of this month. So I think it will end up there next month along with Michael Frömmer's 1616, and possibly Dante's Inferno (though this has delivered to many backers there are still plenty of complaints on the KS comments)

Once a project reaches red (approx 183 days overdue) on this thread http://unitedcardists.com/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=4315" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" they'll get added.

I think the mustache decks are already getting shipped out at a snails pace. Wayyyy too slow. For these not straight out scams, how would you define it as "shamed" though ?

because they were to slow, seems to be the kicker.

Hahah I think my question should be how slow is too slow?

I think it speaks to planning. In the current setup we take the last day of the month that they have planned to deliver by, and add 6 full months. I think that's really quite generous.

If projects fall foul of that because they didn't plan a long enough production phase, or didn't have the art work at a reasonable state at the beginning of the project, or ran out of money to ship, then this all smaks of bad planning. Not a scam to be sure - but still very poor and franky worthy of the label "Shameful".

Perhaps I can look at adding an extra Icon to denote a scam vs really bad planning and exectiion?

I think it's fine to keep it as it is. I mean, it's "Hall of Shame", not "Hall of Scam".

Just starting out and making mistakes is one thing, but there's really no valid excuse for being 6 months overdue.

They should ship out their products with as much speed and zeal at the end of their project as they showed when asking for and taking our money at the start.

Bingo
Totally agree! It's not intended to point out only those with criminal intent, obviously there are quite a number of projects that hand-picked their friends and sent them a deck or three (or those that yell the loudest, maybe?).

Ask Walrus who it was that yelled the loudest about the VORTEX DECK... and maybe he'll tell you how he got banned from Aether...

Laughing all the way to work. Do tell, Walrus? Would make an interesting story since I missed the fun...
