[Artem] Developing a custom card deck asking your opinion

Unread post by Artem »

Hello fellow members.
My name is Artem I am from Ukraine and I am developing a new custom deck. Main goal of this game is to expose a lie or to a trick another person without arising any suspicions. The rules are in development for now. I have a design of one card in different variations. As for the main idea of design I used a currency signs instead of suits and for the main picture I used a symbolic icon representation of this country. Here's an image of a dollar card.

What can you say about it?
What variation suits best?
Please leave a messages on this topics, all critics are welcome.

Artem - So you say you want to use currency signs instead of suits. That's fine. I like to see different stuff. I see you have a dollar sign for a 100 hundred dollar bill. Don't see the symbolism with the cowboy, cactus, moon, and money bags with the dollar sign. Your card does lack a rank. Is that like a King or a Jack? Also it's an obvious "one-way" court. Oh, this is an art deck...

Thank yoy for your reply sprouts1115.

I was just trying to link a dollar sign with an american icon. Please correct me if I am wrong but I think that a brave gunslider is very symbol of United States. Symbolism it's too deep for that.
As for the game there will be no ranks at all, all card deck consists of a 32 cards with a 8 different currency signs and every sign is equal between each other.
For now I have another desing for this card but I think it's a quite not cool. Which one is better on your opinion?

Artem - Yea, somewhere between cowboy and Mad Max describes the american icon. So you say "there will be no ranks at all" That makes me sad. :(

Look at some other threads and maybe you'll learn something...

Mad Max is Australian ;)

Like Sporuts I'm slightly disappointed this wont be a poker style deck - because I like your art very much - the first cowboy variation works best for me!

I would love to see a poker deck that is done in that Cowboy style!

Although your idea for that 32 card deck is different and nice for being original, most collectors would want to have a fully custom poker deck, that is done in the style that that cowboy card was done. I know I would buy one in a heartbeat.

I dream of a world where wars are fought only by having dance offs. I also dream that a Finnish playing card designer would exist. The former seems more likely to happend.

If you're thinking of a symbol for lying - it probably differs across different cultures, but a wink, or crossed fingers could work.
