Pixels Deck (reworking them)

Unread post by LilRogue »

Hi guys, I'm reworking the deck I'd previously made, and this is the result so far, what do you all think? Any input or suggestions? Here's the old one, and then the new improved version...

LilRogue, the first drawing is better; it has no color degrades nor shadows. I think that using flat colors is better. Secondly, it will be easier to read white indices on dark background. Very good drawings.

Thanks, Levent, in regards to the indices would it be something like this? Would the red ones still be red, so it would be white and red?

And I agree with the coloring. However, I already launched those cards on kickstarter and they didn't do as well as I expected, hence why I'm reworking them and just asking for suggestions. I'll certainly stick with the flat colors if I can get more confirmation from everybody :)

LilRogue, this one is better. :)

Try to change background to red or orange from green. Hot colors may be good for selling.

Levent - Your suit index is huge. That is a good thing because you don't have to worry about a suit indicator.

"A suit indicator is the big pip that traditionally is put on court cards, which is separate from the indices. The indices are in the corner and have the value and a pip, while the suit indicator is a separate bigger pip usually located on either side of the court's head. Its function is to make the suit more distinguishable from a distance."

Thanks for the input guys!!

Sprouts1115, do you think it would work if there was a small pip on the regular cards and then these bigger ones on the courts? Or just stick with big ones on all of them?

And also here's two more questions that I've been wondering about for a while if anybody can help me out. When it comes to making your decision on whether or not to buy a deck how much do these two factors influence you? I didn't follow the rules on those two and I'm wondering if those might've been big factors on why the KS wasn't successful

1) Symmetry on all cards
2) Cards colors (I had one different color each pip, here's a pip of the old project as an example)

Might be a bigger rework than you want to go for, but something that would make me much more likely to buy this deck would be two-way courts.

Magick, thanks for the input, yeah it's a big rework, but it's doable. I just want to do it right this second time around, no matter how long it takes.

What do you all think of these? :?:

What about adding a story behind the artwork? It might appeal some people to know where these guys come from or are fighting for. Delirium deck did that and seemed a good idea.

I like the idea, especially having them two way.

The only trouble you have with this deck is the background clashing with the court characters, try a simple background or just a plain black background?

I definitely prefer the solid black background to the textured one. The textured background turns the field into a space, and that's opening up a very tricky can of worms. Simpler and safer to keep the background a field. Maybe if you had the background at like, 15% opacity or something so that you still got that detail, but it didn't really become a space. Am I making sense? My vote is straight black or white though - keeps the eye focused on the subject.
