Making a New Deck in Seattle (Beetle Royale)

Unread post by antic »

Hi, I live in Seattle and I'm making a new deck of playing cards. Currently looking at Legends Playing Card Company for the printer but doing some prototype prints at MPC (which are only prototype worthy).

I'm planning on launching a kickstarter for the deck in a couple of months. In the meantime, I'd love to get feedback on the art and box design from enthusiasts :)

There are a few samples here: http://adameivy.com/#/0/1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks for looking :)

Welcome Adam!

I dunno about tuck box design but I'm thinking it better look like a beetle. Complete with pearlescent or at the very least metallic inks. :lol:

So far, I like what I see! My only question is about the 7 of hearts. Why is it a large one-way design? Is it actually supposed to be the Ace of Hearts? I ask because the 10s are two-way designs while it seems much more similar to the Ace of Clubs.

antic - I see what you're doing. The 7oH has 7 hearts. The ToS has 10 spades. I don't see 10 Diamonds in the 10oD. Change that.... Be consistent and I can't bitch.

I can see those 10 diamonds, in fact. 5 on each beetle, forming a cross: one in the middle, and pne up, down, left and right.
So... Bitching is over? ;)

Every deck I open makes your sealed one more valuable. You're welcome.

jsantafe - 2nd look. Ah, you are right. Be carful. Usually, the pips are the same size, but you have a different bug for each card you can associate each card at a distance. I won't win this battle; I give up. :D Nice work in tripping my brain. :ugdance: Show me a court card! ;) Maybe I'll have something to bitch about.

Oh, I found something. Your club on your BackOfCard is upside side. Usually, everything on the top of the card is right side up. Be carful when using suits on the BackOfCard. People frown on it. My theory is it takes away from your art. Be different. Looks like a good place for a bug...

antic - Liked your video. It's around 2 min. Have to say this is a good Art deck. It's not playable because of the moving beetle in the BackOfCard. It makes it kind-of a marked deck. Wish one of your Jokers had a little Red in the indices. Hell, the "J" could be red and that would be enough...
